Everything happened after a banal appendicitis attack, which hid the young assistant attorney Henri to the operation in the hospital. And his mother, who taught the future genius of painting an artistic taste since childhood, gave Matisse a box of paints and brushes so that he would not get bored in the ward.

Perhaps one of the most famous paintings of the artist is the canvas "Dance". There are two variations. The first - in the Hermitage, the second - in the New York Museum of Art. Both original paintings were drawn by Henri Matisse. At first, the pictures were not understood and ridiculed by critics. One of them was ordered and painted for the Moscow house Shchukin in 1910. It is characteristic that the canvas is written in red, blue, green - only in three colors.
