Urinary incontinence in men and methods of treatment

Many men, with age, acquire a whole "bouquet" of diseases. Most of them lead to the fact that there is an uncomfortable and in some way stressful situation in the body, when urine involuntarily and uncontrollably goes outside. This problem is called incontinence in men, but do not despair, discover it in yourself. At present, everything can be treated, the main thing is to turn to a doctor in time!

Incontinence, or urinary incontinence, is characterized by a condition when urine is excreted spontaneously. This is a global problem, as the disease is present in more than 200 million people on the planet.

Urinary incontinence in men is divided into several types:

• Urgent incontinence - represents an involuntary loss of urine of an urgent (imperative) urination;

• Stress incontinence - manifests itself in circumstances arising from increased intra-abdominal pressure. It can be laughter, sneezing, coughing, lifting heaviness, getting out of bed and the like. Most often, this incontinence manifests itself as a result of operations (prostatic adenoma, prostate gland). That is, when there is damage to the sphincter mechanisms;

• Mixed incontinence in males includes the symptoms of both urgent and mixed incontinence;

• Paradoxical ishuria - arises from overflow of the bladder. This incontinence is due to incomplete emptying, mainly against the background of diseases such as adenoma and cancer, as there is a decrease in contractile function;

• Urinary incontinence, characterized by transientness. It appears under the influence of external factors and ends after the end of their action. This is usually the intake of diuretics, alcohol poisoning, the presence of acute cystitis or a violation in the work of the intestine.

The first three species are most significant and have a clinical character, since they often lead to complications and operations on the prostate gland.

Urinary incontinence in men is often associated with age-related changes, but it should be noted that it is not an absolute companion to aging. It can and must be treated, in which only a qualified doctor will help you, correctly diagnosing the disease and selecting an effective method of treatment. Because urinary incontinence in men can have a variety of reasons.

The main role in the normal process of urination is the well-coordinated work of the nerves and muscles of the urinary system. Because of the nerves, sphincters receive a signal from the brain. Therefore, any failure in the nervous system can lead to problems with urination. Unfortunately, enough diseases can provoke such malfunctions - diabetes, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, stroke and many others lead to brain damage and, as a result, loss of control over the release of urine.

To avoid possible negative manifestations of the bladder, be sure to visit the urologist regularly. An examination will show whether the prostate gland has increased in size, if there is a nerve damage, manifested in changes in the sensitivity and tone of the muscles or reflexes. If necessary, you will be assigned electroencephalography, which will show whether there are abnormalities in the brain, or electromyography, which determines the state of activity of nerve endings. Urinary incontinence in men is also diagnosed with ultrasound and urodynamic studies.

Treatment of urinary incontinence in men depends only on the specific cause that caused the incontinence. Methods of treatment can be of a medical nature, include physiotherapeutic procedures or solve the problem surgically. Previously, medicine offered treatment consisting of special exercises for pelvic muscles and medications, which, as a rule, was effective only in patients with minor disorders.

The proposed transurethral gel injection also did not become a solution to the incontinence problem. And only now, thanks to advances in implant surgery, urinary incontinence in men is eliminated in most cases.
