Agglutination in spermogram: what to do?

Some men are horrified when they hear that they have been diagnosed with agglutination in the spermogram. Is it so scary? And, most importantly, what needs to be done next? Remember, this article only describes the problem. You need to get detailed advice from a doctor. In no case are you treated yourself. Because of this, you can get even more problems.

So, let's look at the concepts. In order for spermatozoa to perform their direct functions, they must be fully functional and structurally. They should also be able to move easily. But if there is agglutination of sperm cells, then the sex cells adhere to each other and can not move toward the pipes. But this does not mean that a man who has a pathology, can never become a father. This disorder is successfully treated. Also, there is no need to draw conclusions on one single analysis.

How is agglutination detected in the spermogram?

You need to pass a standard semen analysis, during which the laboratory assistant will evaluate the physico-chemical properties of the sample, study the material under a microscope and evaluate the macroscopic picture. For the results to be reliable, you need to prepare for the study. Within 3-7 days before the tests you need to refrain from sexual intercourse, visiting the bath and drinking alcohol. These factors can just cause temporary agglutination.

To understand if you have this problem or not, it's pretty easy. In the analysis results there is a graph "Agglutination", in which there will be a "+" or "-", respectively. If the result is negative, you can breathe peacefully. In case the analysis is positive, pay attention to the number of pluses (from 1 to 4). The higher the index, the more pronounced agglutination in the spermogram. If as a result 3-4 pluses, most likely, you have a problem.

False agglutination occurs if you are not prepared properly for analysis. But there are other options. Repeat the test after 2 weeks. And the period of abstinence should be the same as in the first analysis.

How to treat agglutination?

If both analyzes show an impressive number of pluses, you need to go through 2 more tests. First, the seed is sown to nutrient media. The purpose of this analysis is the detection of pathogenic microorganisms. Often the cause of agglutination is an infection that can not be manifested at all.

The second analysis aims to identify antisperm antibodies that destroy spermatozoa. If the hypothesis is confirmed, then the immune causes of agglutination take place.

Further actions depend on the results obtained. But do not despair! Agglutination in the spermogram is a condition that, in most cases, can be treated. If this does not happen, intrauterine insemination is possible . So do not worry ahead of time. Especially since stress affects the quality of ejaculate badly. Be optimistic, make your life more healthy, consult with good specialists, and you will succeed.
