Halyazion of the lower eyelid - how to recognize and cure

Halyazion is a small ball, resembling a hailstorm, in the upper or lower eyelid. The size of education rarely exceeds a large pea. Appears halyazion of the lower eyelid as a result of disruption of the sebaceous glands. Over time, this formation can dramatically increase in size and become very painful.

Sebaceous glands forming haljazion, still known as meibomian glands, they are located within a century. For each eye of a person, they can account for up to 80 pieces. All of them emit a thick liquid, which in case of blockage and stagnation begins to form under the skin of a small lump of matter. Over time, this lump gets more dense structure and increases in size until the apparent inflammation begins. However, unlike barley, which is also caused by glandular obstruction, the halacha of the lower eyelid is not dangerous. It should be remembered that this is just an inflammation, to which the body quite rightly reacts with redness, swelling, fever and pain. Barley, which is caused by infection, is much more painful and can cause serious complications.

Halyazion of the lower eyelid - causes

The causes of this disease are very different, but in the end they can all be reduced to the obstruction of the sebaceous glands and the clogging of blood vessels. Each of the meibomian glands produces a special fluid that must moisten the surface of the eye and clean the roots of the eyelashes. However, with haljazione, this does not occur due to the clogging of the ducts. In addition, there are a number of conditions that increase the chances of development of meibomies cysts, namely:

• Chronic blepharitis;
• Diabetes mellitus and pregnancy;
• Inflammatory skin diseases;
• Ignoring the simplest rules of hygiene.

Halyazion of the lower eyelid - symptoms

Edema of both lower and upper eyelids can occur throughout the week, but in rare cases, there is an explosive growth of the tumor. More often haljazion occurs in the upper eyelid. It appears as a small solid lump, gradually increasing in size. After its diameter exceeds 8 mm, usually unpleasant feelings begin.

Halyazion of the lower eyelid - treatment

The treatment of this ailment can be broken down into several different stages and is carried out by both surgical and more conservative methods. If halyazion, the photo of which can be seen below, is in its first stage and has not yet sufficiently compacted, it can be removed from it with "little blood" with the help of various ointments, lotions and disinfectant drops. This type of treatment is designed to initiate the resolution of the chalasia clot.

If this method does not bear fruit, then the ophthalmologist should appoint a special drug that prevents the formation of fibrous capsules and has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect. Usually such medicine is injected into the affected area with a long needle. If the second stage does not bring results, the doctors try to reduce the inflammatory process to its minimum mark and perform a surgical removal of the haljazion. In this process, the fibrous capsule and lump contents are removed.
