Foundation of the gymnasium

The official opening of the educational institution took place in 1936, the construction of the building began a year earlier. Children in the NKVD were to be educated in it. So there was 5 gymnasium (Khabarovsk), the history of which has already passed the eighty-year boundary.

In the war years in the building was a hospital. In 1945, the training was resumed, only the first two floors were used for classes. The rest needed to be repaired.

Specialization

A turning point for the school was the 1960s. Nobody still does not know why there was a specialization in learning a foreign language. In 1964, additional hours of English were introduced - more than seven lessons per week. Senior students studied foreign literature and mastered technical and military translation. To cope with the general education program, additional zero lessons were introduced. The school day started at 7-20 and consisted of seven classes.

In the 90s of the last century the school was included in the program of international exchange, which further raised its prestige. The state allocated money for travel. But, despite the high level of education and a clearly expressed humanitarian orientation, the school did not have the status of a gymnasium. It appeared only in 1992.

Now, Gymnasium 5 (Khabarovsk) does not stand still, new forms of training for schoolchildren are being introduced. For example, in the fifth grade, the children begin to learn the second language (French or Japanese).

Features of training

As of 01.09.2016, the "five" functioned 25 classes, the number of students - 732 people. The gymnasium is fully staffed, there are no empty seats.

Mastering the English language is realized from the second class (three hours a week). On the average, there are two additional lessons of a foreign language waiting for schoolchildren. Nine-year-olds must undergo preliminary training. Gymnasium 5 (Khabarovsk) has a philological specialization. In-depth study of the following disciplines:

• Russian language,
• Foreign language (English and French),
• English literature,
• technical translation.

In the gymnasium, work is carried out within the scientific community of students, there is a school newspaper.

According to the Rules of Admission, Gymnasium 5 (Khabarovsk) does not conduct entrance tests and interviews for future first-graders.
