Gusters - freshwater fish

Gustera is a fish belonging to the family of carp and representing the only monotypic genus Blicca. Externally very similar to the young bream, however, it has differences that are noticeable upon careful examination. These are large silvery eyes, a small mouth, dark gray dorsal, caudal fins and reddish-yellow pectorals, a characteristic blunt nose and a rather large scales compared to bream. In addition, the gushers have two-rowed pharyngeal teeth. Like the bream, it has a flat, flattened body with a height of at least a third of the total length. The color of the fish varies from bluish-gray to bluish-silvery. Below is a picture of a gusher fish (photo 1). As you can see, it's really easy to confuse with bream, especially inexperienced fishermen.

Gusters - small fish, rarely longer than 35 centimeters and weighs more than 400 grams. However, there are large specimens. The largest (officially registered) fish weighed 1.2 kilograms. Gustera is common in European rivers and lakes in places with abundant vegetation. It is often found in the fresh water of our homeland. I'll try to briefly outline the habits of this fish, I'll tell you what it eats, what it is and when it should be caught.

The habits

Gusters - a fish that keeps jambs near the bottom of the reservoirs. It feeds on both plant and animal food. Eats worms, insect larvae, small crustaceans, algae and other fish eggs. She also has special taste preferences. She especially loves caviar of red rind and larvae of bloodworms. Gustara - a fish of little activity, prefers warm water bodies with a weak current and great depth. As already mentioned above, he likes thick vegetation and muddy bottom. Long lives in the same place. With a strong wind comes to the very shore in search of food. Waves blur the bottom of the shallows and expose larvae and worms, behind which the fish come. In autumn and spring, the gusher gets lost in big jambs. Perhaps, because of this, it got its name (from the word "densely").

It also hibernates in flocks, gathering in bottom holes. Nerestitsya late, not earlier than the end of May, when the water temperature rises to 16-18 degrees. To do this, selects small bays, abundantly overgrown with algae, which is also laying eggs. Spawning takes place at a time from late evening until morning, then the bumber goes to a depth to rest. After seven or ten days, the post-environe zhor begins. As such, there is no feeding time for this fish, it eats constantly, even when it flocks in packs in pits. However, it is most active in the evening, before dark.

Catching bass

As already, probably, experienced fishermen noticed, gushers - fish, not only externally, but also by habits very similar to bream. No wonder these two species often come together. The methods of fishing, respectively, are also the same. In the spring, it is best to use animal bait: bloodworms, worms, slices of mollusks or maggots. The most active biting is observed in the evening. Once the water of the pond warms up to 22 degrees or more, you need to switch to vegetable bait. You can use peas, corn, bread, dough and the like. It is good to catch well on water bodies not more than two meters deep. Before casting the fishing rod it is desirable to feed the fish so that it gathers in a pack and for some time keeps in the right place. However, bait can produce the opposite effect, collecting around the bait uninvited guests, for example, ruff. Gustera is a fish with a lower mouth. It feeds from the bottom, because the bait on the hook is more likely to grab the ruff, not her.
