early years

David Moyes was born on April 25, 1963 in the family of Scots, in the city of Glasgow. From childhood, he liked football and the club "Celtic". Naturally, he also wanted to do this sport. And the dream came true. Young Moyes was admitted to the football school at the club "Dramchepel". In the youth team, he played there for two years - from 1978 to 1980. And then moved to your favorite Celtic. Together with this team he became the champion of Scotland, having played there three seasons.

Then he spent two years at Cambridge United, then another in Bristol City. From 1987 to 1990, the central defender played in the FC Shrewsbury Town. A lot of time he spent in the team "Dunfermline Athletic". For this club David Moyes played 105 matches and scored 13 goals. He stayed in the team for three years, after which he was bought by Hamilton Academic. However, there he only five times went on the field. The best results were demonstrated in Preston North End. In this English club, David played 143 matches and scored 15 goals. And in 1998 he completed the career of a field football player.

Beginning of coaching activities

David Moyes took the post of mentor in 1998 in the same club in which he completed his career as a player - at Preston North End. At that time, the Scotsman already had a coaching license. And if not for his skills and predisposition to this activity, then "Prestort North End" would have flown from the Second Division to an even lower one. Moreover, the next season, David brought the club to the fifth line of the rating, which gave the team the right to fight for an outlet in the big leagues. And in the 1999/2000 season, this was done. The contract was concluded for five years, but already in 2002 Moyes moved to Everton, and in the first match he led his new team to victory. Thanks to him, this club also kept its position in the Premier League, finishing the season in 15th place. And next year "Everton" reached the seventh line of the rating, thanks to which David Moyes, photo of which was given above, was officially recognized as the coach of the year.

What happened next?

In 2004, Moyes decided to strengthen the squad by acquiring new players. From the club at the same time, left some good players, including Wayne Rooney. Then he told in his autobiography that it was Moyes who forced him to leave the team. David is outraged, and he sued the player for libel. In 2008, the conflict was settled - Rooney admitted guilt, paid the coach 500 thousand pounds as compensation for moral damage and publicly apologized. And Moyes received the money transferred to the former players of FC Everton.

In this club, David stayed until 2013, for 11 years. There were both ups and downs. But of course there are more victories. David Moyes is the coach, who with Everton won 150 victories in the Premier League. And it was he who led the team into the UEFA Cup.

Last years

In 2013, David Moyes, whose biography is impressive, moved to Manchester United. The first months of the business were not bad, but in April 2014, "MU" lost to "Everton", because of what lost the opportunity to get into the Champions League. So Moyes immediately resigned.

About half a year the coach was in free search, but already in November he was invited to "Real Sociedad". The contract was concluded for two years. But the results, which the team reached under the guidance of the Scottish coach, did not suit the club's management, so Moyes again resigned.

But not so long ago, in late July of this year, 2016, David headed Sunderland. The trainer himself said in an interview that he was very happy to be part of the "black cats" and was inspired by the idea of bringing them to good results. What is not surprising, because Moyes spent not one, not two, and not three hundred matches in the Premier League. Everyone would be happy to return.

Moyes can really be a good mentor. After all, he was recognized as the coach of the year by the LMA version three times. This was in 2002/03, 2004/05 and 2008/09. And ten times he was recognized as the coach of the APL month. The most recent is in March 2013.
