Accidents on the M52 route, or the Bloody Harvest of the Chuysky tract

In the city of Biysk, right in front of the bridge across the Biya River, begins the asphalt run of the Chui highway, along which any motorist can drive through the whole Altai and reach the border with Mongolia. This highway passes through very picturesque places, so that tourists have something to see.

The beauty of the valleys of the seven rivers between the mountain ranges, passes - here everyone can go.

What it is - M-52

The federal highway M52 - Novosibirsk-Tashanta is well paved and comfortable for driving, and the highway is only a part of it. But the road does not forgive mistakes and rudeness. Do not count the number of traffic accidents on the Chui tract. And according to the old driver's custom, accidents on the M52 highway are marked by parts of the car - part of the steering wheel, cardan shaft or something else. And on all 953 kilometers of the track (namely, this is its length) on the roadside is full of debris. And behind each of these "monuments" is someone's crippled fate. As if for the edification of all the people who are going along the route there are pieces of metal, but who will they stop? After all, all in a hurry on business or leisure, to meet with your loved ones or to something new ... That's collecting his bloody tribute to the Chuysk tract!

A bit of history

Accidents on the M52 route occur on each more or less complex road section. Particularly rich in them are the Altai Mountains, where you can learn from the local ancient rules of the road. After all, merchant caravans have been walking here since ancient times. Even in Chinese records of millennia ago, the Mungal tract is mentioned, which ran on the site of modern Chui.

For violation of those rules of the movement, death was deemed, so there were not enough people to break them. And the rules were simple. A difficult stretch above the cliff, where it is impossible to disperse even on foot, not like horses, was called a bom. As we approached the caravan bomber, the driver drove ahead and put on his hat, then returned, and the caravan moved forward. While the cap lay, not one counter caravan was coming forward.

Chuysk tract began to work in 1901. For two years, under the direction of engineer I. Bil, the trail for caravans was rebuilt for small two-wheeled tarataks. And the installation of ferry crossings greatly reduced travel time.

In 1916, the route was traced along the road in the form in which we know the route today, thanks to an expedition led by V.Shishkov. And although in 1922 the tract acquired state significance, much was in decline and required major repairs.

In the 30s the road was leveled, the ferry crossings were changed to bridges, it was extended and improved only with the help of a pickaxe, a shovel, a crowbar and a wheelbarrow. Labor as a labor was used by local residents and repressed. Because of the extremely difficult climatic conditions and heavy physical labor, people died in the thousands. The old people told me that they were not even buried, they just laid the bodies under the road surface or threw them into the pits along the road. If this is true, then the track literally stands on the bones.

Famous people whose lives were taken by M52

Not only ordinary people take death from us. Traffic accidents on the highway M52 claimed the lives of many, they did not spare well-known people. So, on August 21, 1995 singer T. Snezhina died, with her 5 more people. They were traveling by minibus, which collided with MAZ.

22.02.2003 - Barnaul Mayor V.Bavarin is dying, and his M52 has not spared him. His wife was also in the car and was severely injured.

07.08.2005 - Governor of the Altai Territory, formerly famous humorist Mikhail Evdokimov, dies. Two more people did not survive with the accident on the M52 track. It was lucky to stay alive only Galina Evdokimova, the governor's wife.

Only from mid-March to mid-October 2016 there were 11 major accidents, in which 8 people died, and even more suffered. Unfortunately, we got into accidents on the M52 track and children. There were massive disasters involving three or more cars, frontal collisions, crashed like cars, heavy trucks, buses and Gazelles. And this is only in 2016!

Do not choose the Chuysk tract, whom to pardon, and whom to maim. Do not forgive carelessness on the road and exceeding the permissible speed, and the weather conditions are changeable all the way, which many drivers simply forget.

Who knows why so many accidents happen on this road? Maybe the bad weather conditions are guilty, maybe the drivers' inattention, or maybe they are the undisturbed souls taking with them living people. But the accidents continue ...
