Gurami gold: content, description, photo

Thanks to the painstaking work of talented breeders, lovers of aquarium animals have received such an amazing fish as the golden gurus - the result of numerous crossings of marble rocks. This representative of the suborder of labyrinth individuals is also called sunny, woody, lemon.

Description

On average, the size of an adult gouram is 8-10 cm. The body of fish can be pale yellow, without visible spots, or decorated with bright black transverse strips. In most cases, on the abdomen there are light patches, and the dark bands on the back become brighter. A feature of the structure of the golden gurami are the fins in the form of filiform whiskers on the abdomen, they are a kind of organ of touch.

The dorsal fin has a short shape, and the anal fin, in turn, is quite long, with a dark strip, which loses its brightness with age. As a rule, the color of the males is brighter than that of the females, the fin on their back is sharp and markedly extended to the tail. The eyes are gurami reddish, the mouth is small and stretched upward. The unusual feature of this fish can be attributed to the fact that they eat the hydra, which makes it possible to call this suborder labyrinth a kind of sanitarists of the aquarium. Also, gurus eat with pleasure small shellfish, such as snails, coils , etc. On average, fish live up to 7 years.

Behavior

Gurami gold differs from other varieties of aquarium fish by its calm and peaceful behavior, although it was noted that during spawning period males can be aggressive, conflict with each other. They are inhabited by gurus, as a rule, in the middle layers of water, but they are quite shy, so they can hide in thick algae. It is necessary to plant an aquarium with a large number of plants and use driftwood and houses. In such conditions it will be very nice and comfortable to feel golden gurus.

Compatibility

This species of fish works very well with other aquarium representatives. Only occasionally do males show aggressive behavior towards other males. Usually the golden gurus can safely plant both small and large neighbors. For this role, the scalars, neons, laliuses, and so on are great.

Conditions of detention

Among the majority of aquarium fish, unpretentiousness and endurance is distinguished by golden gurus. Their content requires only compliance with the most usual conditions. Basically it is clean water, bright lighting and the presence of large free space. The size of the aquarium should be at least 100 liters for 2-3 fish, as gurus need a lot of space for swimming. Water should not be rigid, temperature fluctuations in the range from 23 to 27 ⁰С are allowed, replacement should be made weekly up to 20-30% of the aquarium volume.

Given that this type of fish belongs to the representatives of labyrinthine, gourami need to be provided with the necessary amount of air, therefore it is impermissible to close the aquarium, but it is also not necessary to leave it completely open, since the fish often swims to the surface of the water. In order for the gourami to not catch a gold, in the upper part of the aquarium it is necessary to create a constant circulation of warm air. Also it is worth remembering that for the breeding and keeping of the solar miracle absolutely pure water is needed, so it will not be superfluous to filter and aerate.

What to feed

Gurami - the fish is omnivorous. The feed can be used as a live (cyclopean, tubule, bloodworm, etc.), and dry substitutes. When selecting a feed, you need to remember that the fish's mouth is small. Gurami gold, whose photo is posted in this article, is prone to overeating. This is worth remembering and strictly follow the quantitative part of the dose, so as not to harm the excess food.

Reproduction

To cultivate golden gurus, the same measures are taken as in most cases with the reproduction of spawning fish. The spawning grounds should be at least 50 liters in volume. During the spawning period, the female needs refuge. To do this, it is necessary to plant a part of the aquarium with algae. Before the breeding process, the female and male are planted in different containers for 2 weeks and are abundantly fed with live food, preferably with bloodworm, until the belly of the female significantly increases. After this, fish can be transferred to the spawning grounds. On the water surface, the male builds a foamy nest 7-8 cm in diameter from air bubbles, using small particles of plants and algae, while eating nothing. On average, the female swims up to 2 thousand eggs.

The spawning period lasts 3-4 hours. After its termination the female is planted, and the male collects the eggs with the mouth into the nest and starts guarding the brood, thereby caring for the offspring. But it's worth remembering that a goldfish gold can independently prepare for reproduction in a normal aquarium. This can contribute to abundant food and too warm water. Most of the spawning is of little use, since in the general aquarium fries can be eaten by other fish. Therefore, in order to avoid such situations, it is necessary not to overfeed the fish and keep the temperature of water no higher than 23-24 o C.

The rate of development of spawn after spawning depends on the temperature of the water - it should be warm and comfortable for fish. Usually, after a day, larvae appear, the male takes care of them until they turn into fry and can not swim on their own. As soon as this happens, the male must be immediately deposited in a separate container, because the parent can accidentally eat the fry.

After 2-3 weeks, individuals can reproduce themselves. Feed the fry with infusoria or nematodes, a finely grated egg yolk is allowed. They grow quite quickly. On average, this period takes 2-4 days. At this time, it is necessary to lower the water level in the aquarium to 10 cm, this will allow young individuals to capture air near the surface, since the labyrinthine organ will be fully developed only by 10-14 weeks of life. After about 1 year, the fish reach puberty.

If the gold dweller lives in an aquarium, where suitable conditions have been created for him, then, as a rule, he has health problems. An outbreak of illness can trigger an inadequate diet or contact with a sick fish.
