Greek yoghurt is a wonderful dish that you can have a hearty breakfast or snack during the day. Another such yogurt can be used in the preparation of Greek sauce, and also from it can turn out a delicious filling for a cake. In order to prepare a thick Greek yogurt weighing about half a kilogram, take a few products, namely:

  • Milk fat content of 2.5% - 1 liter.
  • Yogurt - 1 liter.
  • Sourdough for yoghurt.

To the starter, add the milk, thoroughly mixing to a homogeneous mass. Heat it to about 40 degrees and pour it into hermetic dishes: for this purpose the most common thermos will do. There, the milk should spend about six to seven hours. After the specified time, it will be necessary to strain the future Greek yogurt. Put everything in a bag and leave to drain about eight hours, best for the night. Greek yogurt should turn out to be low-fat and thick. It goes well with honey and fruits.

The real Greek yoghurt is useful because it is very nutritious, because it has a lot of probiotics. And this product is considered dietary: having eaten it for breakfast or dinner, you get many useful substances and do not overload the body with heavy, fatty foods. Those people who suffer from poor assimilation of lactose, you can not worry, using in their diet Greek yogurt, because it contains a small amount of milk sugar. Thus, this product will be an important item in everyone's diet.

There is not one recipe for cooking yogurt and every housewife has it's own. But there are even more dishes that can be made from yogurt, for example: cakes, pancakes, milk drinks, cocktails, sauces (one of them is the famous Greek Dzadziki sauce), salads, ice cream and more.

Here is one recipe for what to cook with yogurt: strawberry ice cream. For four servings of ice cream you will need:

  • Strawberries - 4 glasses.
  • Sugar - 150-200 grams.
  • Lemon peel - one teaspoon.
  • Lemon juice is one teaspoon.
  • Cognac - one tablespoon.
  • Vanillin - one sachet.
  • Yogurt (fatty) - 1 glass.

Slice the strawberries finely and add them together with zest, lemon juice, sugar and cognac to the plate, where it will all take 1 - 1.5 hours to make the strawberry soaked. Now we pour everything into the bowl of the blender and whisk together with vanillin and yogurt until smooth. Then put the mixture in the refrigerator for one hour. When it cools down, it must again be shaken in a blender to foam. Do this for about fifteen minutes. It remains now only to pour the mass in the container and put in the freezer for a day. Everything, strawberry ice cream is ready! This dish can be prepared with other berries and fruits, for example, with raspberries, blueberries, cherries. Fresh berries can be replaced with jam or jam, and instead of cognac use rum.

You can also make a cocktail from Greek yogurt. Take yogurt, berries, sugar, milk and 2 tablespoons of cream. Whisk everything in the blender until the foam appears, decorate the cocktail with lobes of lemon or orange.
