How does the VAZ-2106 generator work?

When motorists speak about devices of electric energy, first of all the car battery is remembered. However, the main device of this system is a generator. Now all modern machines are equipped with valve devices. What is noteworthy, their design does not change depending on whether the car is a foreign car or a domestic car. The difference is only in size and fastening places.

Generator VAZ-2106: the principle of operation

The basis of this design is the principle of generating alternating current in the stator windings under the influence of a magnetic field formed around the core of the rotor. The motor drives the rotor with a belt drive , and then an electrical voltage is applied to the winding of the workpiece . Its voltage is sufficient to form a magnetic flux. When the core rotates, an EMF is induced in the stator winding. The magnetic flux, or rather its power, depends on the configuration of the relay-regulator. At the output of the generator VAZ-2106 allows you to get a voltage of 13-14 volts. This is quite enough to ensure the normal operation of all electronic systems, including for recharging the battery. The battery and starter VAZ-2106 will function normally for a long time, accordingly, the movement of the car will not interfere.

What does the generator consist of?

This device includes a number of mechanisms:

  1. Housing . This element is the basis for the stator winding in such a detail as the VAZ-2106 generator. The generator body is made of duralumin and other light-alloy metals. Also, there are so-called windows that serve to cool the entire device during operation.
  2. Winding . It is made of copper wires, laid in the grooves of the core. The latter has a round shape and consists of a special transformer iron, which gives it improved magnetic characteristics. Generator VAZ-2106 has 3 layers of winding, which are connected with each other by a triangle.
  3. Rotor . This device is an electromagnet with one winding, which is located on the shaft of the part. From above it there is a small core. Often the diameter of this part is 1-2 millimeters less than the diameter of the VAZ-2106 stator.
  4. The characteristics and functions of the relay-regulator consist in the adjustment and monitoring of the voltage that is supplied to the output of the generator. This part is an electronic circuit with outputs to the brushes. The regulator itself can be installed both in the generator body and separately from it (in this case the brushes are mounted on a special brush holder).
  5. Straightening bridge . This mechanism includes 6 diodes with a current of more than 40 A. They are located on a positive and negative current-conducting base. The diodes are connected with each other by the Larionov scheme. This type of fastening makes it possible to obtain a mechanism at the output not by an alternating voltage, but by a constant voltage. By the way, motorists often call the rectifying bridge "horseshoe." This name he received because of the characteristic placement of diodes.
