Gladilin Anatoly Tikhonovich: Biography

Gladilin Anatoly Tihonovich - a representative of the so-called anti-Soviet prose. His creative career began in 1965 with the publication "The Chronicles of the Times of Victor Podgursky." In the "thaw" years, his name thundered in literary circles. Gladilin's works stand alongside the books of such authors as Aksenov, Okudzhava, Voznesensky, Yevtushenko, and Akhmadulina.

Biography

Gladilin Anatoly Tihonovich was born in 1935 in Moscow. He studied at the Literary Institute. Gorky, but did not finish it. After the first works were published in "Youth", there was a long stagnation in the work. Fortunately, the writer received an invitation to the newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets, for which he wrote articles for a short time.

Gladilin Anatoly Tikhonovich worked for several years in the editorial office of the film studio. Gorky. In the sixties, the writer began to show himself and as an active public figure. For example, he spoke in support of the writers Sinyavsky and Daniel during a loud trial.

In 1972, Gladilin Anatoly Tikhonovich published the novel "Forecast for Tomorrow." A few years later the writer emigrated. More than thirty years he lived in France.

The writer of the sixties

During the thaw, when literature was the only outlet for Soviet people, Gladilin's prose occupied a relatively modest place. In the sixties the magazine "Youth" owed its millions of copies to the famous authors, whose works later became classics. The creativity of the hero of this article was quickly forgotten by his compatriots.

Gladilin Anatoly Tikhonovich, whose biography was typical for the writers of the sixties and seventies (difficulty in publishing works, emigration), in his books sought to answer the question of how to live in this difficult time without repeating the mistakes of his fathers. "The Gospel of Robespierre" is a novel dedicated to revolutionaries. The last work written in the Soviet Union - "Weather Forecast" - was printed only in Germany. Gladilin Anatoly Tikhonovich, whose books began to appear in the early sixties, were often compared with the writer Françoise Sagan.

Young author

The first work of Gladilin, which was enjoyed by Soviet readers, was written when the author was barely twenty. He was compared to the French prose writer Sagan. After all, the literary path of the famous writer also began very early: at seventeen. However, the difference was in fees. Sagan received a huge sum for her first novel. It could have existed in the future quite comfortably, if not a wasteful and unruly lifestyle. Gladilin also received for his debut work "The Chronicle of the Times of Victor Podgursky" pennies.

The anti-Soviet writer

Gladilin Anatoly Tikhonovich, whose works caused a resonance in the sixties, adhered to the views that censors called "antipatriotic." It is known that this writer in his younger years led a bright and rich life. He was familiar with the outstanding actresses of theater and cinema. Among his close friends was Marina Vladi, who in the first years of her stay in the Soviet Union, before she realized the naivete of her romantic convictions, once asked the prose writer a rhetorical question: "Why are you so anti-Soviet?". In order to respond to him, it was necessary to be born and grow up in this country. But despite the generally accepted opinion, Gladilin was never a dissident. He did not dream of overthrowing the Soviet regime and believed that it was forever.

First trip to the West

For a man who lived his life behind the "Iron Curtain", Europe seemed to be a promised land. In 1962 a group of Soviet writers visited Paris. As part of her was Gladilin. The writers were watched by the KGB. They were taken to the "city of lovers" according to strict instructions. Despite constant monitoring, the writer was amazed. Paris seemed to him a real paradise. And only after years Gladilin realized that it was one thing to visit this city as a tourist, quite another - to live here.

Emigration

Like many other writers of the second half of the last century, Gladilin was forced to leave the country in order to avoid arrest. In addition, there were many works in his desk that Soviet censorship would never have missed. The writer emigrated. But years later he admitted that if he knew about the upcoming perestroika, he would never leave the Soviet Union. In the West there was freedom. Literary works in Paris were not censored. But there were no readers.

In Paris, Gladilin forced himself to forget that he was a famous writer. He got a job at the Radio Liberty organization. Colleagues of the prose writer were outstanding Soviet writers who also had to leave the Soviet Union once. Journalism fascinated Gladilin. Fiction has gone to the background.

Books

At home Gladilin managed to print three works. Among them - the historical story "Dreams of the Shlisselburg Fortress". The protagonist of the book is Ippolit Myshkin, who made an attempt to take Chernyshevsky from Siberia. In the Soviet Union the novel "The Secret of Zhenya Sidorov" was published.

In Paris, Gladilin wrote "The Great Running Day", "Cypress Under the Snow" and several documentary works.

Personal life

Anatoly Tikhonovich went to emigration with his wife Gladilin. The writer's family, however, was not alone. When he left the USSR, his personal life was rather confusing. A few years after his arrival in France, Gladilin met with his ex-wife. A few months later it turned out that she was expecting a baby. The writer was able to take out from the Soviet Union and her. Today Gladilin is the head of a large family. The writer has two daughters from different marriages, grandchildren.
