As can easily be understood from the title, the club was founded in 1860 in Munich. Given the fact that Germany was always in different geopolitical conditions, the general German league was formed only in the second half of the twentieth century. This was the only team championship title in history, since then the "lions" have never been able to climb so high. Also in 1860, twice managed to win the German Cup: in 1942 and 1964. In the finals, the Munich side lost to West Ham.
