Kia Magentis became the debut model developed by the joint forces of two Korean automakers: Hyundai and Kia. For the first time the car was presented at the Paris Motor Show in the distant 2001, where it earned many laudatory reviews. What did she like so much for millions of drivers from all over the world? Read more about this.

Magentis 1st generation

The car was built on the same platform as Hyundai Sonata 4th generation. Attractive design, powerful engine and a rich set of options - all this has created "Kia Magentis" great popularity. The car is available in 2 versions: with a two-liter 136-horsepower engine and a V-shaped "six", developing 160 hp. At a volume of 2.5 liters. Both engines are aggregated with a 5-speed "mechanics" or a 4-speed "automatic" Tiptronic. As for the optional set, the car is already equipped with air conditioning, power windows, driver's airbag, audio preparation, air quality control system and much more in the basic version.

In 2003, the market appeared a restyled version of the "Kia-Magentis", where the designers changed the exterior, making it more aggressive. So, for example, the form of a bumper, a cowl, "противотуманнок" and forward headlights, now divided into 2 sectors has been transformed. At the same time, the options portfolio has also somewhat diversified, replenishing with one more airbag, anti-slip system and other pleasant trifles. Designers also managed to expand the space for the rear passengers, so that 3 adults could feel quite comfortable.

Magentis 2nd generation

The second generation of "Kia Magentis" was presented in 2005 at the International Automobile Exhibition in Frankfurt. In Russia, the car sales started in 2007. The new sedan significantly increased in size, becoming longer and wider (4740 mm x 1800 mm). Of course, that such innovation allowed to increase the internal space, thanks to which the rear sofa became much more spacious, and the volume of the trunk increased by 15 liters. By analogy with the 1st generation car Kia Magentis II was created on an identical platform with the new Hyndai Sonata.

Magentis II: design and interior

The design of the updated version turned out to be quite modern, moderately strict and even somewhat sporty. The headlights radically influenced the appearance of the car in the front, and the new radiator grille finally changed the exterior of our heroine for the better. Pleased with the eye and oblong body, decorated with stylish chrome inlays. In general, everything turned out laconically, but with taste.

The interior is made in the style of High-tech, as much as possible corresponding to all fashion trends. The car's finish looks impressive, using high-quality and expensive materials. In the cabin, you can easily find a driver of any complexion, because both the steering wheel and the seats have a fairly large zone of adjustments. The controls are also located very conveniently, and therefore for ergonomics cars can not survive - it is gorgeous. The options portfolio is surprising with its variety: climate and cruise control, on-board computer, classroom multimedia system, full safety set, front and rear electric windows, heated mirrors and much more. In general, you will have a comfortable trip.

Kia Magentis: specifications

As for the power characteristics of the car, thanks to the use of new materials, they have become more modernized. This fact allowed to reduce the noise and vibration of the engine, as well as to reduce the exhaust emissions. The machine itself is offered in five versions: 4 petrol and 1 diesel.

The younger 2-liter gasoline engine is ready to squeeze 136 "horses", and the threshold of 100 km / hour overcomes in 10 seconds. The maximum speed is 208 km / h, which is quite a decent result for a D-class car. It is worth noting that the "Kia Magentis" of the 2nd generation is not such a huge "appetite", given its power. So, on the highway, the discharge is equal to 6.5-7 liters per 100 km, and in the city the figure grows to 12-13 liters for a similar interval.

The buyer can choose a car with a 4-speed "automatic" or with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Of course, the first you will be somewhat more expensive. The second engine has the same volume, but it boasts a higher power, which reaches 145 liters. from. The other characteristics are identical. The older V-shaped "six" develops 168 liters. from. With an engine capacity of 2.5 liters. Of course, the increased power of the engine could not but affect the fuel consumption. The figures increased to 7.5-8 liters on the highway and 14-15 liters in the city. As in previous versions, there is a choice between "automatic" and "mechanics". The last petrol version has a 2.7 liter engine, "squeezing out" 189 liters. from. Finally, the line is completed by a 2-liter 140-hp motor, which is aggregated by a 6-speed "mechanics" or a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Manageability Magentis II

Engineers have significantly improved the controllability of the car, tightening its maneuverability and stability on both excellent and bad roads, which is especially important for our country. Suspension from "Magentis" is completely independent. Bumps it "swallows" is quite tolerable, and therefore, discomfort should not arise. The car responds fairly sharply to steering movements. At the turns behaves well and without critical rolls. Already in the basic version, the ABS and EBD systems are assumed, which, of course, is a huge advantage of the machine.

Restyled version of Magentis II

In 2009, there was a restyling version of "Kia Magentis", a photo of which you can see above. The most significant changes occurred in the external appearance of the car, which has significantly changed. Raskosye headlights, a large radiator grille and a modified bumper have made the car more "aggressive". The interior is essentially the same. As for the line of engines, it was limited to 3 options: 2 petrol and 1 diesel.

Finally, let's say that in 2011 came a new generation of "Kia Magentis", the reviews of which are only positive. It is not surprising, because the design was designed by world famous Peter Schreyer. The new Magentis is now known in Russia as Kia Optima. For the first time the car was introduced in 2010 at the New York auto show, and in 2011 its sales started.
