Fish with the unusual name of "prostitute" are known to very few people, and some have not even heard of it. But the people of the older generation name is well known. Prostipoma is a fish that can often be found on store shelves in the 60-70s of the last century. Although today it is often said that in those days, under an unusual overseas name, they could sell fish of other species.

Prostipoma is a fish whose photo will be remembered for a long time. Take a good look at it, then you can easily recognize falsification in the store. Its body has an elongated shape, flattened from the sides, painted in a dark color. On the edges of the gill covers there are dark spots. But on the sides and back, there are no spots, the color is even.

Prostipoma is a fish, the description of which often mentions its sharp fins. Fishermen say that they really can easily get hurt. The fish itself is medium in size, not much larger than the herring. Its minimum length is 17 cm, and most caught fish reach 30 cm.

The scientific name of fish Pomadasys incisus absolutely did not inspire the Soviet marketers, they did not want to sell the workers a lipstick or an incubation.

Therefore, the search for names for this product continued. All English and Latin variants were carefully examined. But neither in the name of the detachment (Perciformes) nor in the name of the family (Haemulidae) anything suitable was found. The Persoform? Hemulida? Perhaps we could know this fish under some of these names.

Even worse was the case with the English-language terminology. Bastard grunt - this is the name of this fish inhabitants of the foggy Albion. In Russian this name is translated and is completely bad - it turns out something like "illegitimate grumbler".

And then I remembered the long-forgotten old name - Pristipoma, taking origins in Greek, and literally meaning "shell with a saw". It was something that was chosen. Russian-speaking buyers quickly transformed it into their own way, turning it into a "forgiving" one. By the way, this strange word instantly gave birth to a whole wave of all sorts of funny words and jokes. For example, the residents of Odessa said: "Pelyad, belonduga, forgiveness will brighten up the table of any house."

Industrial Value

Prostipoma is a fish that belongs to a group of perciforms. It is of great industrial value, thanks to delicious meat with a small number of bones. Specialists note that the population of this fish is rapidly declining, so even today, on the shelves of many stores under this name, it is not at all tempting to find.

Where is this rare fish? Most often it occurs in temperate or subtropical waters of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Especially rich in this fish are the coastal waters of West Africa.

The largest part of the catch belongs to Japanese vessels. In the Land of the Rising Sun, a prostitute is very much appreciated. Most of the catch goes not to the stores, but immediately falls into the hands of the best fish cooks in the country. Prostipoma is a fish, the photo of which is often a decoration of the menu of Japan's most prestigious restaurants. Dishes from it are worth a lot.

And from the big head, prostitutes prepare the broth. It has a harmonious shade, exquisite aroma and high transparency, so it is well suited as a basis for soup, fish soups, gravy, sauces, jellied dishes.

Professionals do not recommend the use of excessive amounts of spices and seasonings during cooking, because forgiveness is a fish, the aroma itself is quite rich and expressive. Extra spices can simply muffle it.
