Townspeople usually call it Bald Mountain. As it turned out, it is part of the volcanic crater. It was created by igneous rocks (trachytes). In this regard, the most logical and popular explanation for the appearance of this unusual name is the following - "fox" - comes from "bald". The fact is that on the mountain, except for grass, practically nothing grows.

Residents of Tagil say that Fox Mountain is an extinct, and very ancient volcano. This can be trusted, since the Ural Mountains are a very ancient massif. They appeared as a result of the displacement of the platforms, and it is likely that in these places there was seismic activity and volcanic activity.

Fox Mountain, according to tourists who visited here, as if created for a secular life. This remnant of the volcano, which extincted about three hundred and sixty million years ago, does not store anything of value in its depths. True, modern scientists are rather skeptical about such observations of their colleagues. They note that for today it is for certain that Fox Mountain is a magmatic formation. It requires additional research using modern equipment.

Chapel

At the very top of this mountain is a modest chapel. Historians say that it was built in 1818. Once upon a time she had a fire bell for emergency notification of all emergency incidents in the city. At that time it was very convenient, since the Fox Mountain is visible from the farthest points of the city.

First there appeared a small hut - a wooden watchtower, in which day and night sentries were serving.

At the beginning of the XIX century, the building was replaced by a stone tower. Unfortunately, the author of this structure remained unknown. On the cast-iron plate, the carved date of construction has been preserved.

Later, the tower began to play the role of a fire tower. In the event of a fire, a bell was cast on it, cast from bronze.

In the 30-ies of the XIX century, near the tower, an observatory was built to observe the comet Halley. It was a pavilion mounted on a rotating platform. At first glance, he looked like a hut on chicken legs. Today only a vaulted massive cast-iron pedestal has survived from it.

Since October 13, 1943, the tower on Fox Mountain has become an architectural monument, subject to protection and systematic overhaul. The head of the municipal administration of the software was obliged to restore the tower within a month, and in the future to carry out regular repairs, while not rebuilding anything in the building.

How to get there

If you are going to come to the resort from Moscow, then you should go along the Gorky Highway. Seven kilometers from the Moscow Ring Road, on the right, you will see McDonald's and TC Vertical, and behind them a traffic light. Turn right, then at the second traffic light again to the right - and you are in place.

From Moscow region you should also go to Gorkovskoe highway, in the direction of Moscow, to the city of Balashikha. For shopping center "Galion" turn left (sign "Railway"), after a hundred meters after the first traffic light turn right.
