Fort-Shevchenko: attractions and leisure

Fort-Shevchenko is located in Kazakhstan, four kilometers from the Caspian Sea. This is one of the largest cities in the Mangistau region, which is located on the peninsula of Mangyshlak. The territory adjoins the coast of the Caspian Sea. The name of the peninsula is translated as "one thousand villages", one of which is the modern city of Fort-Shevchenko.

Today in the city there is a port of Bautino on the coast of the Caspian Sea. For a long time airports of local importance worked. They took light aircraft and helicopters. Now they are abandoned and used as emergency sites. The city can now be reached by car and by water.

A bit of history

The first mention of the city dates back to the middle of the 19th century. The historical documents refer to the military fortification of Novopetrovsky, which was later renamed the fort Alexandrovsky, performing a protective function. His appointment was to protect the Russians from the raids of nomads. Here TG served. Shevchenko, whose name was called Fort-Shevchenko in 1939.

Archives give a description of the settlement. The building consisted of four powerful bastions, two of the same half-bastions enclosing the outer shaft, and a stone notch. All together it looked very impressive and made the enemies retreat.

The city was in the center of the Silk Road. He always attracted many travelers.

What is in the city?

Today, Fort-Shevchenko is known as a port city, not far from which there is a fishing base and a fish cannery that processes varieties such as stellate sturgeon and sturgeon. Also there are remains of a fortress, a museum of local lore, a museum of T.G. Shevchenko, an ethnographic museum, a monument to Shevchenko, an Armenian chapel, the mass grave of the heroes of the Civil War.

Also here, almost on the seashore, the extraction of shell rock is based. It is white and white, and the water is blue. Very beautiful sight. Who will visit Fort-Shevchenko, must necessarily visit the shore and admire.

Weddings of the First and Ninth of May are widely celebrated in the city, as well as Nauryz.

Nuariz is a holiday of spring renovation, when people put their houses in order, plant trees and flowers.

Nearby is the architectural complex of 16-20 centuries, as well as the necropolis of Beisenbai 17-19 centuries.

Many tourists visit Fort-Shevchenko every year. The sights of the city allow guests to plunge into the atmosphere of past centuries when they visit.

So noteworthy is the ancient well existing in the city and visually showing how the water supply was organized in the past.

The Museum

The museum of TG is interesting. Shevchenko, who is one hundred and fifty years old. The complex is located on the site of the Novopetrovsky garden-garden. The main exposition is located in the hall of the commandant's house. Shevchenko was exiled here for writing "daring" poems and spent eight years here. In the museum there are documents telling about the execution of economic works soldier Shevchenko. It was by his efforts that the city became a beautiful park, where even the willow that was brought by the poet was planted. For many years the locals have cherished it as a relic. Also on the territory of the museum complex is the monument of Shevchenko.

Mosque

There is a White Mosque in the city with a crescent, visible from afar. This is the oldest building. True, it is now destroyed. At one time this building was a warehouse and a cinema.

There was an Orthodox church in the city, but not so long ago it burned down.

Necropolis

Separately, I must say about the necropolis of Fort-Shevchenko. This is an old soldier's cemetery with tombstones. There are also many children's graves - the climate for the colonists was not easy. In the center of the cemetery stands a chapel. In the old part of the cemetery there are tombstones signed in the Hebrew language.

Activities for active

The inhabitants of the city actively go in for sports. Here are developed such activities as ballroom dancing, bicycle, boxing, chess clubs, table tennis, mountain skiing.

On the outskirts of the city there is a very interesting building with windows-arches. This is a children's and youth sports school. Initially, there was an officer's meeting here. Also in the city are held regional boxing competitions.

Chapel

Another sight of the city to be seen is a white-walled Armenian chapel made of stone behind a forged fence at the foot of the Kurgan-Tash. Before Armenians were part of the merchants in Fort-Shevchenko, gravestones are also talking about this. It was delivered in the 19th century by the Astrakhan merchants. Today it is only a monument of architecture with a silence that is characteristic of the abandoned altars.

Where to rest and settle, if you came to Fort-Shevchenko?

Rest you can offer a hotel Chagala Group (Bautino). Employees of oil companies often stop here. Here, comfort and warmth are guaranteed on the shore of the Caspian Sea. Travelers are waiting for a varied cuisine in the local restaurant, high-class service, friendly staff. The hotel will please its guests with a gym and sauna, its own small beach.

You can also stay in a guest house for ecotourism in Shetpe. Here it will be possible not only to have a good rest, but also to see with your own eyes the small entrepreneurship in the countryside in the sphere of tourism. This is an ordinary apartment building, in which several rooms have been converted to accommodate guests. The family living in the house offers tourists a dinner consisting of national dishes, and in the evening one can hear a game on dombra or stories about the way of life and culture of Kazakhs.

Festivals

The city of Fort-Shevchenko in Kazakhstan is still interesting because there are many festivals. It will be interesting for them to visit the tourists.

The most entertaining, perhaps, will be a festival dedicated to TG. Shevchenko. In the city, and now, a careful attitude to the memory of the famous writer remains. The exposition of the memorial museum and the monument established by the author speak about this.

Another festival - modern music, which collects a large number of people.

Conclusion

Fort-Shevchenko is one of the most interesting cities of Kazakhstan with ancient history, architectural monuments, modern holidays. Tourists are happy to rest here on the shore of the Caspian Sea.
