Philharmonia (Kazan): history, concerts, artists

The Philharmonia (Kazan) named Gabdulla Tukay was opened in the first half of the 20th century. Today it is one of the largest in the Republic. There are concerts of both artists and celebrities of the world scale.

History of the philharmonic society

Philharmonic (Kazan) exists since 1937. Initially, she conducted musical and propaganda activities. During the war, artists performed at the front and in hospitals. In 1946 the philharmonic society was named after Gabdulla Tukay.

After the war, the artists began to actively tour the country. In the 50s a famous jazz orchestra was created here, led by Oleg Lundstrem. A few years later he was transferred to Moscow.

In 2000, the Philharmonic Hall (Kazan) was reconstructed. Now it is equipped with the latest equipment and is designed for 610 listeners.

The Philharmonic Society conducts educational activities, acquaints listeners and spectators with the national art of Tatarstan and with world classics, organizes music festivals. Over a year, artists perform over eight hundred concerts. In them I take part not only soloists and collectives of the philharmonic society. Among the invited guests are famous conductors, vocalists, musicians from other countries.

The Philharmonic Society not only organizes its concerts, but also primes active participation in various cultural events in the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as in Russia and abroad.

The repertoire is constantly updated, new programs are being created.

The Museum

The Philharmonia (Kazan) opened its museum in 1997. Since 2012, its head is AA. Hakimova. The museum collects and stores materials about the history of the philharmonic society. There is a permanent exposition and there are temporary exhibitions devoted to some thematic events or anniversary celebrations. Evenings of memory are held in the museum. Among the exhibits there are documents, posters, archival materials, photographs, conductor sticks, scores, autographs, concert costumes, statuettes, bas-reliefs, printed publications about performances by philharmonic staff, paintings of artists, wooden sculptures.

The museum stores audio and video recordings, photos from concerts. Its employees take an active part in the release of jubilee books and booklets about the philharmonic society, as well as audio CDs in the MP-3 format, which contain soloists and collectives of the philharmonic society with the addition in the form of photographs. They organize a visit to the graves of artists and the laying on.
