Forms and types of family

A hundred years ago in Russia, no one could imagine that there will be different kinds of families in the country . The family could be one: a traditional marriage, entering into which the spouses are married. In such a family, the husband and wife live together, have children in common, and have a joint household. Divorce is a very rare thing.

After the revolution of 1917 , the existing family forms underwent cardinal changes, a civil marriage appeared. And the civil marriage was understood not as cohabitation as such (as in our days), but as a marriage registered by the state, and not by the church. It should be mentioned that the post-revolutionary fall of morals has had a profound impact on the institution of the family, and the concept of family has also changed. Joint living, a common table and a common bed without any official obligations were not only not forbidden, but even to some extent encouraged. It continued until the Great Patriotic War, or rather until July 1944, when the order came out to all couples living together to register.

Today there are two main forms of the family:

  1. Official marriage is a prisoner in a registry office.
  2. Civil marriage - cohabitation, management of a man and a woman of a common household.

In essence, these kinds of families do not differ much from each other. And in either case, the spouses live in the same apartment, raise common children, make love, cook, take care of each other and so on. Differences begin when it comes to the legal responsibility of the parties. If in an official marriage property and debts in divorce are divided in half, then in the case of civil marriage, "cars and apartments" is taken by the one to whom they are recorded. At the birth of a child in an official marriage, the baby automatically writes to the husband. But in a civil marriage, a woman will have to prove the fatherhood of the biological father, if he does not wish to recognize his descendant.

The wedding marriage continues to exist in our days, and every year he has more and more admirers, but he does not recognize the state as an official marriage. In fact, if the spouses were married, but did not put a stamp in the registry office, then for the state they still live in a civil marriage.

There are other, non-traditional types of family. For example, a guest marriage, when the spouses are officially registered, but live in different territories. Husband and wife meet, but do not lead a common household. Formed in the registry office, it is equivalent to the official one.

Same-sex marriage. In Russia it is banned, but in other countries a marriage between two men or two women is successfully registered. Such families do not differ from ordinary married couples in the same way, they lead the economy and live together. In even-sex families, even children may appear: adopted children, received from surrogate mothers or with IVF (if it is a lesbian couple).

Free marriage. It is also rare in our country. It can be both civil and official. In a free marriage, the husband and wife can periodically change their sexual partners or leave.

Fictitious marriage - the official, is by mutual consent. As a rule, in this marriage, the husband and wife pursue some of their own, most often selfish goals.

A family limited by time. In this case the marriage is concluded for a certain period, after which the spouses either diverge or conclude a new contract.

Swedish family - a family of 3 or more people, most often living together and leading a common household.

A Muslim family - a man lives with two or more women.

In spite of everything, such kinds of family as temporary, free and Swedish are quite rare in practice. Even in countries that pride themselves on their sexual freedom and allow them to officially register unconventional marriages, they are the exception rather than the rule.
