For those who are annoyed when the cooler rustles
If your computer makes some strange noises, rustling and knocking, there can be two sources. The first one is a cooler, and the second is a hard drive. In the second case, unfortunately for your wallet and nerves, the problem is solved most often only by replacing the hard. Well, in the event that the cooler makes a noise, you can do with improvised means and do everything yourself.
When it is determined that the cooler is noisy, and where exactly it is located, we proceed to troubleshooting. There are two ways:
- If, when you look at the fan on, you see that it turns smoothly and normally, then you just need to lubricate it. For this, take a medical syringe (without a catheter), put into it lithol (engine oil) and drip a little under the sticker in the center of the cooler. If excess lubricating oil forms, wipe them with a tissue. Then stick the tape to the place where there was a sticker before (so that the dust does not hit).
- If the cooler rattles, it can be replaced. This way is more guaranteed. It is worth it inexpensively. The price varies depending on what device the fan goes to, what its power is. Buying a new cooler, keep in mind that the more powerful it is, the more noise it makes. But no matter how powerful it may be, it will produce sounds less than your current, faulty one.
If the cooler on the video card, hard disk or power supply is noisy, then it is most convenient to pull these parts out of the computer and "operate" them, placing them comfortably on the table. With the CPU fan you will have to suffer and replace it directly in the system unit.
First remove the defective cooler. To do this, unscrew neatly the four screws that hold it, and unplug the wires that supply it with electricity (sometimes the power needs to be repaired). In the case of a processor and video card, you need to wipe the thermal paste with a microcircuit over the cooler. In the power supply and on the hard disk, as a rule, this is not necessary.
Then, on the new cooler, remove the protective layer, under which there is thermal paste, and install it in place of the old one. Tighten all screws. During installation, do not make sharp movements and try not to touch the blades, since the alignment of the fan is so precise and thin that it is easy to break. When the cooler is installed, connect (or solder) the power wires. If you have to solder, then observe the polarity so that the fan turns in the right direction. Otherwise, you may endanger the overheating of the fragile component of the computer. This completes the process, you can turn it on and check it.
