Fibrosis and adhesions in the lungs. Symptoms and Treatment

Pain in the chest, shortness of breath, weakness, shortness of breath and tachycardia all resemble signs of cardiac disease, but in fact it can be caused by single or multiple pleural spikes. Similar symptoms belong to another dangerous disease - lung fibrosis. Today we will examine both pathologies in detail.

What are spikes in the lungs?

In a different way, spikes are called synechiae or shvarts. These are fibrous cords that cause parts of organs that have a serous membrane to coalesce with each other or with the walls of the cavity (this includes the pleura).

These formations are made of fibrous-fibrous tissues, and over time, nerves and blood vessels appear in them. Sometimes connective tissue is impregnated with calcium salts and ossifies.

Spikes restrict the movement of the respiratory organ, and this, of course, interferes with its normal functioning. And sometimes they support a chronic inflammatory process, creating a capsule around it.

If the spikes in the lungs are formed in large numbers, then this can lead even to the overgrowth of the cavities. Such a pathology, as a rule, has a very severe symptomatology: frequent severe pain during breathing, acute respiratory failure, which requires urgent surgical intervention.

What causes spikes in the lungs and how they are treated

This pathology can occur after severe inflammation or internal bleeding, as a result of trauma, with chronic infectious diseases, but sometimes it can be congenital. With pneumonia, transferred to the feet or untreated, there is a fusion between the pleura sheets that line the lung and thorax.

With such an ailment do not joke. Suspicions of spikes in the lungs require mandatory treatment to a specialist. Their presence is revealed by X-ray studies, as well as CT or MRI of the thoracic cavity. And, depending on the degree of manifestation of the disease, the doctor prescribes medication, as well as electrophoresis and warming. In severe cases, threatening the life of the patient, surgery is required.

What is pulmonary fibrosis. Treatment

The essence of this pathology is that as a result of infection or inflammation, connective tissue in any organ begins to grow, forming scars. This increases the amount of collagen in the body, which causes this tissue to become even larger, and the organ increases in size. As a result, connective tissue gradually displaces the other, necessary for the functioning of the organ, which radically violates its work. With fibrosis of the lungs, it grows next to the bronchi and blood vessels. This causes inflammation of the alveoli, damage and compaction of the lung tissue.

At an early stage, fibrosis can be asymptomatic. But later there are shortness of breath, dry cough, pain in the chest and symptoms of heart failure.

Unfortunately, the resulting connective tissue can not be removed, so the treatment is mainly aimed at preventing its further proliferation. In addition to medicines, such patients are shown breathing exercises and physical exertion. All this is done under the strict supervision of a specialist, since pulmonary fibrosis is classified as a serious disease.
