Excitation is a signal. About what?

Excitation is the standard reaction of any living organism to an external stimulus. As a rule, an excitable tissue responds to such a reaction, on which the most sensitive receptors are located. They fix the nature of the stimulus and transmit the signal to the brain, which responds to it properly or ignores it. It can be said that excitement is the main function and task of the human nervous system. It allows him to fully exist in the world, protect himself and adequately respond to certain circumstances.

After such a reaction is manifested by the organism at the biological (reflex) level, it is followed by the "answer" of consciousness or psyche. In our brain there are images that indicate the nature of the stimulus, its qualities and properties. After all, excitation is the main carrier of information, and it is transmitted by external factors. And as far as this material is important for a particular individual, its organism corresponds to inhibition of all processes or to an excited reaction.

It is on the basis of such human reactions that the work of his higher nervous system is organized. In the course of this process, the psyche, the features of behavior in certain situations, temperament and character are formed. In order to be more clear, we will give an illustrative example and find out what inhibition and excitation is. The concept of "hotly" is familiar to each of us. However, the sensitivity threshold for everyone has its own, and therefore the reaction is of an individual nature. For a person who has worked half a life as an auto mechanic, who has worn leather on his hands, it will not be a problem to pick up a kettle that has just been boiled without a potholder. In this case, his body receives a signal that the hand is hot, but due to the fact that earlier his brain was used to the fact that the skin is rough and hardy, the first notice is blocked, that is, the body responds with inhibition. To raise the same kettle without a potholder can not be a woman who works a manicurist, and it is understandable why. Her body at this point will survive fear-based excitement.

The definition of this term is also found in the psychology of relations. For example, Mr. X has a friend who feels warmly, and an employee who sarcasts him, but does not cause significant damage. If a friend enters into his office, Mr. X experiences emotional excitement, his tone and mood increase, pleasant associations arise. At the entrance of the envious employee (if Mr. X is rational and judicious, and does not react to provocations) his nerve receptors are blocked, and although he can theoretically be excited and respond with the same "poison", his body begins to "brake", and as a result he Does not pay attention to anything.

In general, it can be said that excitement is a chemical-biological process that begins in the microscopic cells of our nervous tissue, and ends in temperament, habits and worldview. We know how to block it, when it is necessary, or let it go to full speed, if we want to give ourselves up to feelings and emotions. This is part of the secret of human nature, the connection of something spiritual and physical.
