Eloquence is a talent from God or a skill that can be comprehended?

A beautiful, intelligible and competent presentation of thoughts was always appreciated. Especially famous for all time with his eloquence is the Roman orator Cicero. His dialogue with the Sicilian governor, aimed at exposing a cohort of government officials who have been sullied, is still being studied at universities.

From the history

Initially, the art of eloquence, or oratory, originated in ancient Greece. Over the centuries, rhetoric techniques have been constantly updated, transformed, and new forms of communication have emerged . But no matter how improved types of speech interaction between people are created, as Blaise Pascal used to say , eloquence is first and foremost a picturesque presentation of thoughts.

For example, Plato was in great admiration for the power of the extraordinary presentation of the thoughts of his teacher - Socrates. He deeply honored the talent of his mentor, whose works are very interesting for acquaintance and modern man.

Strength in word

It is commonly believed that eloquence is an intelligible and briefly stated truth. And here flatteringly balabolit and for several hours "warming" the public ears - this is not speaking skills. Populism, verbiage and empty ranting, although beautiful words, are far from true art.

Eloquence is the ability to convey truth convincingly, bitingly and especially intelligibly. The secret of this skill is the refusal of empty, superfluous words. An example here is the sacred treatises, which have succeeded in this. In them the truths are set out briefly. Francois Laroshfuko said that true eloquence is the ability to say all that is needed, but not more than necessary.

Can I learn to speak beautifully?

This question interests many. Refined to unprecedented heights can be rhetoric (eloquence), if, for example, to work on a word like the most famous Vladimir Mayakovsky. The poet's opinion was: "True eloquence, walking from the heart, and falls into the hearts of people. It stuns the mind and feelings. The mind later grasps what has been said. " He was known as a famous speaker, he was considered a preacher, but despite this, he confessed to friends that his ability to effectively express is not comparable with the Master's short speeches. After Mayakovsky and his mentor spent a week, he guessed his secret and declared: "When the Master speaks, his words give rise to silence. My speech, alas, gives rise to thought. "

Talent from God

Falsehood in eloquence, bombast, grandiloquence, rhetoric conceal the true meaning of words, pretend and hypocritical. Another Buddha told his disciples that there is no use in the words of a person, if he does not follow them, who falsifies eloquence, betrays him for his virtuous quality. Lao Tzu also believed: "The knowing does not prove, the prosecutor does not know."

Incompatible eloquence and with acting. With artistry - yes, but not acting. A person who owns the skill of oratory is not "drawn", does not put himself in a favorable light. All those around him and so unmistakably see in such a person charisma, giftedness, depth and brilliance of reason, read her bright emotionality inherent in a successful person endowed with a number of attractive individual qualities.

For example, Internet correspondence on forums and in chat rooms of social networks also already claims an individual section of rhetoric.

In conclusion, it can be said that eloquence is an art that can be transformed, undergo changes, but also not to lose its fundamental paramount features overnight.
