Elena Ovchinnikova in world-class kick-boxing

One of the most outstanding personalities in women's martial arts is Elena Ovchinnikova. She deserved honor and glory for her overwork and striving for new victories.

The beginning of sports career

Born on April 22, 1987 in the city of Dnepropetrovsk, Elena Ovchinnikova grew up in a sports family. Her parents were keen on karate, and the girl was involved in sports in early childhood.


At the age of five, she began attending the gymnastics section, followed by athletics and swimming. Badminton, tennis and basketball were not ignored. At the age of thirteen, the young athlete discovered the world of martial arts. In the beginning was kickboxing. Then, enrolling in college, Elena was engaged in the sports department of the school. At the age of 19 Ovchinnikova received a proposal to speak on the MMA.

The first battles in the MMA

Having received an invitation to speak on the class of mixed martial arts, Elena Ovchinnikova simply could not refuse, her desire for victory caught on fire. Especially the girl's excitement warmed up the fact that her rival was to become a more experienced sportswoman. Firstly, she was three years older, and secondly, her experience in mixed martial arts exceeded 10 years.


It is quite natural that the militant nature of the girl, who was determined to win in any case, pushed her forward. This mood of Elena, of course, helped her win her first, debut fight. After that, she won the laurels of the winner in the next seven matches in the MMA. Five of them were held on the territory of Ukraine. Fights, which was conducted by Elena Ovchinnikova, Moscow looked with pleasure. International Gala Festival was held in Belarus and the Fighters Championship, which the girl won in Austria.

The period of defeats

Then for Ovchinnikova there came a period of failures. This coincided with the cooperation with the Super Fight League (2012). Already during the promotion in India, Elena surrendered Sanya Sucevic during the second round, in the third fight she lost for the second time to Joanne Calderwood. This fact was witnessed unanimously by all the judges.
Rehabilitated Ovchinnikova after two defeats was possible only in the spring of 2013, beating Fatiyu Mostafu in the first round due to the use of suffocating reception.

Future plans

In the plans of Ovchinnikova for the future - performances in many international organizations, for example, Bellator. Elena is also aware of the growing momentum of Invicta. But, despite the fact that this promotion contracts with good enough fighters, it still does not attract the athlete very much. Nevertheless, in the future, it does not exclude consideration of a worthy offer from Invicta.

Many fans eagerly awaited the fight between Elena Ovchinnikova and Yuliya Berezkina, which was to be held in May 2013 at the promotion "Legend". However, the expected battle did not take place, and the founders did not disclose the reason for canceling the battle of the best women in power combat in the post-Soviet space.

The athlete performs in different styles of martial arts, but it is known that Elena Ovchinnikova kickboxing loves the most. Preference is given to shock types and fights in the rack. Her skates are K-1, kickboxing and Thai boxing.

Seven of the nine victories Ovchinnikova received by the method of surrendering rivals. In six of them, Ovchinnikova used her favorite method - the lever of the elbow.

To date, many perceive women's fights in power combat with greater interest than men's fights. Elena Ovchinnikova already has the following titles:

• World Champions in K-1 2010 (WKF).
• World Champions for K-1 2009 (ISKA).
• World Championships in Thai boxing 2010 (WKF).
• Champions of Europe in the MMA 2009 (ISKA).
• InterContinental World Champion in MMA 2008 (EMT).

Fans athletes are looking forward to her new victories in the ring and, of course, Elena will give them such pleasure.
