Electronic pregnancy tests: advantages and disadvantages

To determine pregnancy at home, there are special tests. And if earlier they were limited to simple strips, now there is a wide choice of them. The most simple are still the strips, the most accurate are the electronic pregnancy tests. There are also inkjet and tablet tests. The first type is more convenient to use, in the second one it is necessary to fill the urine of a special reservoir, after which the results are obtained.

The pregnancy test works according to the following principle. From the first days of conception of the child in the urine of a woman, the amount of chorionic gonadotropin increases dramatically. Instruments are treated with a special substance that reacts abruptly to the presence of hCG, resulting in a positive result.

The most effective, modern and convenient for today are electronic pregnancy tests. They have a number of advantages in comparison with other ways of determining the conception of a child. First, it is the accuracy of the results. When using this device, the reliability of the result is guaranteed in 99%.

If urine enters the test cartridge, the device displays "pregnant" if the result is positive, or "not pregnant", if the result is negative.

Electronic pregnancy tests do not change data over time, as occurs with many other kinds of devices. The result is stored for 24 hours.

Electronic pregnancy tests are reusable devices, and this is another advantage of the new invention. Included are 20 disposable cartridges that are inserted into a special drive. In the future, you can buy new strips, thereby again using the purchased device.

The results are processed digitally, after which the data is output to the computer monitor. Electronic pregnancy tests are connected to the PC via a USB connector. And this gives another advantage of using these devices. Manufacturers have developed them in such a way that when the device is connected to a computer, the latter processes the data from the cartridge and can additionally calculate the expected date of birth of the child (if the results are positive) or the optimal day of conception of the child with negative results. This is done by analyzing the level of chorionic gonadotropin and luteinizing hormone.

It is worth noting that, no matter what reliable data is shown by electronic pregnancy tests, in early terms it is recommended to conduct a second analysis 5-6 days after the first determination.

Thus, the electronic test is the most convenient to use the device, the definition of pregnancy is the most accurate. Its only drawback is the high cost, several times higher than the cheapest and simple one-time test strips. And it is because of this that electronic pregnancy tests are still not widely spread among the female population.
