Electric saws: what are their advantages over gasoline models?

Every happy owner of a house in a country or rural area is perfectly aware of all the difficulties that can lie in wait for him if there is a need to "curb" the grown trees on the site. As a rule, a gasoline tool is used to solve such a problem, but is it possible to use electric saws that are much cheaper than their "colleagues" in operation? Despite a somewhat biased attitude towards them, they are successfully used by many masters.

Unfortunately, the negative attitude towards them is largely due to the fact that such models are not designed for continuous operation for at least some time. Of course, a professional tool of this class can work longer, but the difference with everyday varieties is still calculated in minutes. So the idea of using electric saws for professional wood felling is not constructive in nature.

These devices differ in the typical step of the chain: 0,325 dm, 0,375 dm and 0,404 dm. The more this factor is, the faster it is possible to cut even the thickest tree trunk. However, if you understand the technology of the file, you will certainly prefer the chain with a smaller step, as it will allow you to get a clean and tidy sawing, even if it takes more time.

Conventional electric saws can develop power up to 2.1 kW. Recently, there were varieties with a longitudinal arrangement of the engine. By the way, it is necessary to choose such saws for professional carpenters and carpenters, as working with this tool "on weight" is very convenient. In particular, you will clearly appreciate the advantages of a longitudinal arrangement when building a house.

Unlike gasoline, electric saws are extremely sensitive to improper chain tension. If it is tightened, the working tire will quickly overheat. Do not say that this is fraught with the failure of the saw, not to mention the rapid wear of the teeth. If it is not tight, then it is even more dangerous: the sudden jamming of the tire in the tree with subsequent rupture of the chain has a bad effect on the health (and number) of the fingers. Of course, normal electric saws are always equipped with protective covers and engine brakes, but they will not protect them from the breakage.

By the way, you do not need to "follow" the exhortations of sellers who are persistently trying to give you a saw with manual adjustment of tension (without using tools). On the basis of practical use, builders came to the conclusion that such a mechanism is quite capricious and is not suitable for everyday use.

Having listed the main disadvantages that an electric saw on wood can surprise you, let's move on to listing its advantages.

  • First, there are rosettes almost everywhere.
  • Electric tools can be freely transported by public transport.
  • Given the complete absence of exhaust gas, it can be used even in a residential area.
  • There is no preparation for work: after connection to the outlet you can immediately start sawing.
  • Even mobility is no longer a hindrance, as in recent years a large number of battery tools have appeared.

Thus, a hand-held electric disk or chain saw will become your faithful and reliable assistant in the household.
