Dysentery is a disease of dirty hands

Dysentery is the most common intestinal infection. Her pathogens are the bacteria of the genus Shigella. But in medicine, the form of dysentery is known, which is caused by the simplest amoeba. It is called amebiasis.

Dysentery, like most intestinal infections, is characterized by symptoms of intoxication (headache, weakness) and dyspeptic disorders (dehydration, vomiting and loose stools). The most common disease among children. In infants it is extremely rare, because during this period the baby receives a strong immune defense from a mother with breast milk. If the disease is diagnosed in a child under one year, then in most cases because of infected dairy products or water of poor quality.

Dysentery is a seasonal infection. Its outbreaks are recorded in the summer, in the season of rest on the reservoirs. The main route of infection is water. But do not forget that a child can catch it, playing in sandboxes, from other kids through toys. This way of transmission of the disease is called contact-household. To prevent infection, it is enough to follow the rules of personal hygiene.

It can be argued that dysentery is a disease of dirty hands. As a rule, its sources are people with sick or bacterial carriers, who have no symptoms of infection. Pathogenic microbes enter the environment with feces. This disease is anthroponosis, that is, it is impossible to get infected from animals. They distinguish acute and chronic dysentery. In chronic carriage, clinical symptoms may be indistinct. In this case, only through laboratory analysis can disease be identified.

Dysentery can occur in severe form, provoking dystrophic changes caused by loss of fluid and important nutrients. This infection causes damage to the mucous walls of the intestine - hemorrhagic, catarrhal, ulcerous processes are formed, as a result of which there are micromicles. A person becomes infected after penetration of dysentery bacteria into the large intestine. Having reached this department, the microbes are attached to the cells of the mucous membrane with the help of cilia. Most of the pathological process extends to the lower part of the intestine, affecting the sigmoid section. Dysentery is a toxicological infection. Toxin causes a number of pathological changes. There is an imbalance of water-salt metabolism, which leads to such symptoms as dehydration and liquid stool.

In order to protect your baby from infection, you must follow basic rules of personal hygiene. After each walk, you should wash your hands thoroughly. You can not eat dirty food bought on the market fruits and vegetables. Drink should be only boiled water and milk. Prophylaxis of dysentery does not require any special measures. Do not swim in dirty water. During a holiday in nature, make sure that children do not swallow river or lake water. After bathing in the reservoirs upon returning home, you must take a shower.
