Dyatkovo Crystal Factory LLC is a famous glass enterprise with a rich history. Founded at the end of the XVIII century, the genus Maltsov, it became a trendsetter in the production and cutting of highly artistic products from crystal. Vases, dishes, interior items of Dyatkovo masters can be found in many museums, collections, they are used at solemn receptions, including in the Kremlin.

Description

The plant is located in the city of Dyatkovo in the northern part of the Bryansk region. From the capital it is separated by 376 km. It is easily accessible by car or train. Today, DKZ is experiencing hard times. The old production was declared bankrupt, on its basis a new one was created - OOO Dyatkovskiy Crystal Plant Plus. The renewed products are sold under the Maltsov brand, named after the dynasty of the company's founders.

The pre-revolutionary period

In 1790, the representative of the noble family Maltsova Maria bought a plot of land and based on it glass production. A trademark of the factory for many years was the products of colored glass and crystal, decorated with patterns with fine well-worked edges.

In 1847, the Dyatkovo crystal factory passed to Sergei Maltsov. Possessing an entrepreneurial grasp, he created a glass empire - the largest industrial cluster in Russia. A fan of utopian ideas Robert Owen tried to create comfortable conditions for workers, including serfs. Schools, hospitals, bakeries and sewing workshops were opened.

In 1849 the company had 606 employees. There were 3 furnaces functioning here, which made it possible to produce 1.697.000 crystal products per year. In the art workshops, dishes were painted (up to 47,000 units per year). Production was sent to the largest cities of that time: Moscow, Odessa, Warsaw, Petersburg, Kiev, Riga and others.

Later the production was radically modernized: from abroad new equipment was brought, masters from other countries were invited to work. In 1877 the first Russian private railway was put into operation, which connected all the plants of the industrial district of S. Maltsov. Later, I got my own mail and telegraph.

At the end of the XIX century DHZ became the center of origin of the national style in the field of art glass. At the plant a unique glassblower school was formed. Particularly valued works created by sketches of the artist Elizabeth Boehm.

Soviet time

The new authorities took care of the royal heritage - the plant continued its work. Under the USSR, the products of the Dyatkovo Crystal Plant under the brand "Khrustal from Dyatkovo" were widely known at home and abroad. The national artist Shuvalov breathed new life into production. His works, created in the early 50-ies of the 20 century, are desirable objects of collectors, are exhibited at the largest auctions of the world. Until now, sketches by Evgraf Sergeevich are used in the manufacture of crystal vases, sets and other interior items.

The achievements of the collective were repeatedly encouraged by the state. On July 23, 1966, the DKZ was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. In the 1960s and 1970s, production lines were significantly updated. In 1972, a branch of the plant was built, where pipelining was used. In the 80s, the advanced technology was mastered - the fire watering of the crystal, when its faces, after cutting the patterns, melt slightly, resulting in an irreproachable mirror shine.

New time

After the collapse of the USSR, the enterprise constantly experienced difficulties with sales. The fashion for crystal was passed, which radically reduced the company's revenues. The old production was declared bankrupt. Photo Dyatkovo crystal factory with empty shops is not encouraging. In 2012, with the arrival of new shareholders, an attempt was made to reorganize production. Today, the brand "Maltsov" is positioned as a premium. A network of boutiques has been created in which buyers are offered highly artistic quality products from crystal. Do not forget the mass segment of the dishes.

The magic of light

Crystal since ancient times was a measure of prosperity and the personification of luxury. Its manufacture and processing are rather complicated technological process. In order to make the ordinary glass transparent and durable, it was pleased with noble light changes and melodic ringing, lead oxide is added to it when melting.

Dyatkovo Crystal Factory manufactures products in which lead oxide is contained up to 24%. Each of the creations of glass blowers is a work of art created by hand.

Production technology

The production of crystal products begins with the preparation of raw mixtures. All components are thoroughly dried, sieved and crushed to fine fractions. Then the raw materials are sent to the dosage - this is the most important stage. It is necessary to accurately determine the percentage of each component for cooking glass. Further in the mixers, the non-uniform mass is converted into a charge.

The composition of the charge includes 7-10 components. Mandatory substances are:

• Nitrate (potassium nitrate) is used as an oxidizing agent;
• The lead (lead oxide) clarifies the glass and gives the necessary optical properties;
• Potash (potassium carbonate) improves the quality of glass;
• Quartz sand is the most important component of the mixture.

Dyatkovo crystal factory keeps secret the exact composition of the charge and the percentage of raw materials. After the mixers, the finished charge enters the furnace. The process of cooking glass is round the clock. Crystal products are blown from the melted mass of the glass blowers.
