Drops in the nose for the newborn and the appropriateness of their use

Rhinitis is the most common disease that affects even newborns. However, the use of any medications for children of such a small age should be done with extreme caution. In this there is nothing to worry about, only to choose the drops in the nose for the newborn should be right, because the baby is not all fit.

To begin with, parents should understand that as soon as the baby has caught a cold and has a runny nose, do not immediately run to the pharmacy for medical products. First of all, learn how to flush your nose. If you do it right, you will see that the baby has no snot as such, so it does not need a drop in the nose from the cold.

The main drug, whose presence is justified in the home medicine chest during the first six months of the child's life, is saline. It is heated to 37 degrees before application, then dripped into each nostril. Also for the purpose of washing, a solution of aqua-maris or still mineral water is used. After a few minutes, using a special device, you need to pull off the nozzles.

It is very important to remember that cramming a baby with a stuffy nose is strictly not recommended. This can lead to the development of more serious diseases, among which are called otitis, sinusitis, bronchitis and even pneumonia.

However, in any case, when the baby starts to get sick, it is necessary to contact the doctor to diagnose the degree of neglect of the disease. The fact is that the runny nose will not pass by itself, therefore, it should be determined how serious this is.

In order to determine whether it is worth using any drops in the nose for a newborn, it is necessary to know the nature and specificity of the disease. Snot can be transparent, greenish, watery and white. If their presence is accompanied by an inflammatory process, then the drugs should be chosen anti-inflammatory. When the snot turns green, you need to use those that have antibacterial action.

Vasoconstrictor drops in the nose for the newborn are called upon to quickly remove the swelling of the mucous membrane and the inflammatory process. As for such children, for them there is a certain dosage (children's drug "Otrivin", "Nazivin", "Rinazolin"). As for oil droplets, often their use is groundless. It is necessary only in the presence of an atrophic rhinitis, which causes the formation of dry crusts.

As for the medical advice on what they can recommend good drops in the nose, then there is no unambiguous answer. As a rule, children of the first months of life are undesirable to treat a cold with any vasoconstrictive drops. This option is possible in case of emergency. The fact is that the sense of smell is necessary for a man for normal appetite and proper digestion.

When the runny nose begins to end, which usually occurs on the third or fourth day, you need not forget to clean the baby's nose from the crusts. To do this, you need to take a cotton swab, which is very convenient and safe, pre-dipping it in olive or peach oil.

The use of any vasoconstrictive drops should not exceed ten days. Before using them, you must always consult an otolaryngologist and read the instructions for use accompanying the drug.

If the runny nose does not go away, the doctor can prescribe an additional treatment. However, remember that any drops in the nose for the newborn, provided they are used for a long time, can cause paralysis of the vessels of the nasal cavity. And this is already regarded as a complication and requires more serious treatment.
