Discounts and promotions in the supermarket as a way to increase sales

Supermarkets have practically superseded today's shops and markets. Their advantages - a huge range, convenience and speed of service, a pleasant atmosphere. And there is such a thing as discounts and promotions in supermarkets!

Why the supermarket discounts?

Thus, the trading company raises the level of sales. It would seem that there is a contradiction - how can you raise revenues by lowering the price? In fact, reasonable and well-calculated discounts bring a considerable profit to the store.

How it works? Suppose a unit of goods costs 100 rubles at a cost of 70. The sales income is 30 rubles. If you sell two units of goods at a discount of 90 rubles, the profit will be 40 rubles, which is 33% more. In addition, the turnover for money and the quantity of goods sold will increase.

Of course, not every buyer, having seen a discount, will acquire two units of goods instead of one. But many ad for a discount is sure to interest. For the consumer it is important to decide whether he really needs a second product, otherwise the deal becomes profitable only for the store.

Do you have a discount card?

Regular discounts for all products do not happen very often. If such stocks are held by the store on a regular basis, it means that the price is overstated in advance, which is possible only with weak competition in this niche.

A widespread reception is the sale or gift to the buyer of a discount card with a cumulative or constant discount. Often a store can not do without this in a highly competitive environment. If, however, several types of profitable prices are summed up, then the buyer is "tied" to this store with pleasure. For example, a constant discount on the card can be supplemented by others - seasonal or short-term.

Successful hours and days

Some discounts have a limited period of validity, for example, until the end of the month. Others are a "floating" percentage, which decreases every day.

When selling seasonal goods in late summer or winter, discounts and promotions in supermarkets are almost the only option to attract attention. And a great way to get rid of the mass of unsold goods.

Shares in the supermarket, timed to a specific date, is also not uncommon. This may be the opening of a store, the birthday of the company or its founder, etc. This is a good additional way to "light up" for the store and immediately make a big turn.

There are also hours of successful purchases (most often in the evening or in the morning, when the price of certain products is lower).

Other options

Often, promotions, discounts in supermarkets apply to goods that are not popular. Practice shows that the growth in demand for such a "non-liquid" is directly dependent on the percentage reduction in prices.

Other actions in the supermarket are aimed at encouraging the purchase of more goods or for a larger amount. The discount percentage in this case can be fixed for the second and subsequent similar products or, more rarely, the price decreases for each unit purchased. This includes the discount on the purchase of a specific amount.

Some actions in the supermarket can be directed to a certain category of persons - for example, social discounts to pensioners.

One more look like "buy one product - get another for free". Or the buyer receives a small gift-souvenir, usually with the advertising of the store.

Goods can be grouped in sets according to a certain feature, and the cost of the kit is usually lower than the total cost of all its constituent items.

There is also a markdown for a small defect (for example, a crumpled package). Or, when returning a substandard product, they may offer a different, but lower cost.

Frequent shares in the supermarket - buying a flyer or flyer. Such events increase the recognition of the shopping center and, as a rule, lead to increased sales.
