Differences in the therapeutic nutrition of individual patients

50% of the patient's health depends only on his lifestyle. That's what the doctors say, and that's the purest truth. The fact is that the outcome of all diseases depends not only on the correct course of medicines, their dosages and medical procedures. Along with them, the regime and specialized therapeutic nutrition are of paramount importance . This is due to the fact that in any disease the human body is gradually depleted, the metabolism is disrupted, there is a deficit and an overabundance of these or other metabolites. And if the maximum is compensated by the intake of only the necessary nutrients, then the restoration of all functions will happen much faster than with uncontrolled, completely non-curative, nutrition.

Dangerous conditions due to malnutrition

Thus, in diabetes mellitus, the slightest excess of sugar in food can lead to the development of a ketoacidotic coma, while hypoglycemia also leads to depression of the patient's consciousness. Therefore, in the therapeutic nutrition of such patients, the number of products with easily digestible carbohydrates, increased glucose and fat content is reduced. They are assigned table number 9, designed specifically for these patients.

Even more acute importance of therapeutic nutrition of patients takes with lesions of the gastrointestinal tract: gastritis, pancreatitis, cholecystitis, various violations of the function and morphology of the liver. For them, food is not only a source of energy, but also a provocateur of aggravation of their diseases. Therefore, they are assigned specialized 1, 2 and 5 tables aimed at a pronounced reduction of fats, acidic, acute and poorly digestible products, carbonated drinks. In the therapeutic diet of such patients there is even a period of complete hunger to relieve the already strained state of their organs and to muffle the pathological processes in them. It is also important to compensate for all the energy costs of the disease and improve digestion. For this, gentle cooking methods are recommended: steaming, quenching, decoctions, and soups prefer mucous, possessing the property of enveloping the walls of the intestine to protect them from microbes and their toxins.

Nutrition for heart and kidney disease

A great deal of attention is also paid to patients with cardiovascular diseases. For them there is a separate 10th table. This diet takes into account the need to increase energy and protein products in order to stabilize the walls of blood vessels and cell membranes, as well as a sharp restriction of fats and sugars. Ionic composition for such patients is also of great importance, since, as everyone knows, potassium and magnesium are irreplaceable sources of energy for the work of the heart.

And for patients with various lesions of the urinary system, it is important not only the technology of cooking and the content of certain products, but also the content of liquid and salt. This is explained by the frequency of development of edemas in such patients, impaired urination, therefore table №7 is designed for them. It increased the number of dairy products, vegetarian soups, fish, fruits and vegetables.
