"Deer horn" - a flower that requires attention
A plant like a platitserium can not go unnoticed by flower growers who prefer to grow unusual, very exotic indoor flowers. This includes the "Deer horn". This flower comes from warm regions: Madagascar, South America, Africa, Australia, the Indian Ocean islands, also found in some Asian countries. If you look at the middle of the plant, it may seem very similar to cabbage, but on top of it, its magnificent leaves resemble deer antlers.
The flower in the natural habitat grows on trees in the forests. In the apartment it is also better to keep it in suspense, otherwise the leaves will lie on the windowsill, which does not help to improve its appearance. The plant feeds on bark of trees, dead moss, dead insects. Of course, at home it is impossible to create the same conditions as in the natural environment, but nevertheless it is necessary to select the most approximate mixture. It is best to buy a ready-made primer for orchids.
Feeding - this is what the "Reindeer" also needs. The flower is fed in spring and summer with organic and mineral fertilizers once a month. Top dressing is chosen for leafy plants, only the dosage should be reduced in half. The grown up platitserium once again to disturb it is not necessary, if necessary to divide the adult flower it is necessary very cautiously. "Reindeer horn" reproduces by spores growing on leaves, but getting a healthy plant from them is very difficult. In the apartment conditions, this can only be done by experienced florists. The platitserium never blooms for quite understandable reasons - it is a fern - but it pleases its eyes with its luxurious foliage.
