Day of military intelligence. history of the holiday

Practically every profession in our country corresponds to a professional holiday. He also has military intelligence officers. On November 5, the holiday is celebrated because on that day a department was established, coordinating all the military intelligence agencies. The first day of military intelligence was noted in 1918, when Leon Trotsky signed the appropriate decree. Created by Trotsky, the Registration Department became the basis for all the known GRU of Russia.

It is not necessary, however, to think that until this day in Russia there was no military intelligence service at all. This dangerous profession exists in Russia for several centuries. The first scouts worked for the benefit of the Motherland back in Kievan Rus. Then information about the enemy was collected not only by military detachments and messengers, but also ambassadors with merchants, as well as ordinary residents of border settlements. For the first time, the Day of Military Intelligence appeared under Tsar Aleksei Mikhailovich (on his order in 1654 the Secret Order was established ). The tsar's cause was continued by the emperor. In 17156 Peter I changed the military regulations, legitimizing the then existing Intelligence Administration.

The next emperor, who decided to improve intelligence, was Alexander I. Initiated the creation of the Expedition of Secret Affairs Barclay de Tolly, and the Day of Military Intelligence of Russia fell on January 1, 1810. Two years passed, and the Expedition began to be called the Special Chancellery. This department was referred to the Military Ministry. In addition to counterintelligence, the Special Chancellery was in charge of operational-tactical and strategic intelligence.

Especially notable role played by intelligence in the Great Patriotic War. For the first six months of the war, ten thousand people were sent to the German rear. Partisan detachments were also created by the military intelligence agency. Military experience is not for nothing. For four years, its organization was improved and performance was enhanced, internal rules and traditions emerged. Perhaps, it was then that the Day of Military Intelligence began to be officially celebrated.

All this experience was applied during subsequent military conflicts. The organization of military control has shown its effectiveness during the Middle East conflicts, as well as operations in Chechnya, Yugoslavia and other "hot spots". Star of the Hero during this time was awarded 692 scouts.

Modern intelligence is an institution that receives and processes data about an adversary (probable or acting). On November 5, the day of the military intelligence officer notes several departments that are part of the Intelligence Agency. Counter-intelligence, tactical and strategic intelligence are united under the "roof" of one department. Tactical reconnaissance supplies the necessary information to any one military unit, helping its commander to make the right decision. Strategic intelligence "specializes" on the capabilities, plans and vulnerabilities of other states. The data obtained by this reconnaissance are used to establish the foreign policy course of the country. Counterintelligence is designed to combat foreign intelligence "offices." People celebrating the Day of Military Intelligence are rightfully considered to be the "eyes and ears" of the Russian army.
