Cryogenic freezing of a living person is possible?

Cryogenic freezing is something of a fantasy field. In any case, it could seem like a couple of decades ago. Now many are seriously interested in the question of whether it will be possible to freeze ourselves at one time, and then "order" an awakening in the future? And since this topic is interesting and relevant, it is worth trying to find the answer.

Terminology

It begins with an examination of such a thing as cryonics. It happened from the Greek word κρύος, which translates as "frost" or "cold." This technology, thanks to which the preservation of animals and people in a state of deep cooling is possible. Do this in the hope that in the future they will be revived and even cured.

However, to date, cryogenic freezing of people, as well as large animals can not be reversible. This means that once "preserving" them, in the future it will not be possible to revive. The same goes for the frozen brain and head. Why? Because a person's cryogenic freezing takes place only after his legally recorded death. Otherwise it would be considered a murder.

But then why all this? The fact is that some scientists believe that brain death is not theoretically final. And they hope that one day technology will reach a level of development that will revitalize such frozen people.

Many actively support this idea. In 2016, an open letter was sent to support cryonics, and it was signed by 69 scientists from around the world. But the very hypothesis concerning the possible after the death of the restoration of information contained in the brain is considered unprovable.

Proof of probability

Of course, no one would argue that a person's cryogenic freezing is possible, without strong evidence.

In 1966, for example, it was possible to prove that the brain restores electrical activity after freezing to -20 ° C. In 1974, an experiment was conducted in which the gray matter partially restored its activity after 7 years of storage under appropriate conditions.

In 1984, it was proved that large organs are not subjected to structural damage during freezing. And in 1986, scientists found out: large mammals can be brought back to life if they stay in a state of clinical death at 3 ° C for three hours.

In 2002, an experiment was conducted, during which it turned out that the brain retains memory, even if it is cooled to -10 ° C. In 2004, doctors successfully transplanted the kidneys after they were frozen at -45 ° C and then warmed up.

The following experiment, conducted in 2006, proved that complex neural connections retain their vital functions even in vitrification (transfer of liquid to the glassy state).

In 2015, the world learned that the animal, subjected to freezing and revival, has not lost its memory. In the same year, an experiment was conducted to cryonize and restore the whole brain of a mammal. Researchers assured: everything went perfectly.

How do you think in our country?

Cryogenic freezing in Russia in many people is perceived as fraud. This was repeatedly stated by the chairman of the commission of the Russian Academy of Sciences, engaged in combating falsification of research and pseudoscience. Many people consider freezing as a commercial undertaking, which has no scientific justification, and also a fantasy that speculates on people's hopes and dreams of eternal life.

But at the same time there are supporters. They say that now, of course, there are doubts about this, but in 30-50 years, such opportunities will open, thanks to which it will really be possible to restore a person from a frozen state. And by the way, about 15% of Russians would not have been against crying themselves or their relatives - this was clarified through a survey conducted by the Levada Center.

CryoRus

12 years ago in Russia a company called KrioRus was formed. Their activity is cryogenic freezing. That is, the storage of the bodies of their deceased "patients" in liquid nitrogen. And the company offers freezing of the whole body and only the head.

By the way, "CryoRus" is the only organization in Russia that performs freezing of pets. To date, in their storehouse of their future, expect three birds (including a dandy and a tit), 2 cats, 6 cats, 7 dogs and 1 chinchilla. You need to really love your pet to decide on this. Because the cryogenic freezing of a normal seal is $ 12,000.

The same price is set for the preservation of the human brain. Frozen whole body costs 36 000 dollars. The so-called VIP-freeze in a cryogenic chamber is also available. Price issue - from 150 000 dollars. Of the benefits - a cryo bracelet, thanks to which the life of a person can be monitored. When the death occurs, the rapid reaction team leaves for the place. There are still some "advantages" (if it is appropriate to speak in this context), but they can be consulted individually.

Preparation

Cryogenic freezing of the body is very complicated, which is logical. Therefore, preparation is very important, implying the production of special solutions. If there is already a ready concentrate, then it will make 32 liters, necessary for cryonizing the head.

When the solution is ready, it is passed through vacuum sterilization, which is carried out using special filters. Since so far cryogenic freezing in Russia is not very popular, all liquid substances are frozen until the need for their use becomes necessary. When a "patient" appears, the solution is thawed and the procedure is started.

Next stage

The first thing that is done with the human body after death is to cool it to 0 ° C. This is so important that if the "client" appealed to specialists in advance, he is recommended to prepare packages with ice. After all, right after the human heart stops, the destruction of his body begins. All processes previously responsible for maintaining life cease to function. And to stop the destruction of the body is capable of either ice or cooler of chemical origin.

After that, specialists get access to the circulatory system. This is usually done by either a pathologist or a surgeon. Or the specialist of the company, which provides such a service as cryogenic freezing.

The photos that are currently available on public show that the procedure is very similar to the usual therapeutic operation. In its course, specialists gain access to the jugular vein and carotid artery. This concludes the second stage and begins the last - the most important.

Connection of the system for perfusion

After all the previously described stages, special tubes are inserted into the artery and vein of the body. With their help, blood is excreted from the body. And the body is filled with solution. To monitor the process, use a device such as a refractometer. With its help, it is possible to detect the percentage of solution concentration in the container (which in this case the body acts).

60% - this is the degree of saturation established by specialists. Once this figure is reached, the procedure is completed. The blood is completely replaced by solutions. One can not allow that even the smallest part of it remains in the body. Because in this case the processes of change will accelerate.

Here, however, and the whole answer to the question about how cryogenic freezing occurs. Then the body is placed in the vault. The operation itself lasts about 4 hours, over the patient there are 6 specialists, among them 2 surgeons and 4 assistants.

The procedure is alive

Many are keenly interested in the question: "Cryogenic freezing of a living person, not a deceased person?" Well, one thing can be stated with certainty: at the moment this is not practiced. At the beginning of the article it was already said that such a procedure is equivalent to murder. But there is more information.

Many may think, they say, yes, a revival is possible if the living person were subjected to freezing. However, this procedure is carried out with a dead body! Does not this seem strange?

The specialists have the answer. They assure us that there is no fundamental difference between the living and the dead in this context. At the initial stage, for sure. Because any person within 15 minutes after death is considered, in principle, alive - with the help of modern technology it can be brought back to life. And the statement that irreversible changes in the brain are beginning to happen is a myth. In any case, the specialists of cryocenter give refutations in the form of complex scientific theories. But still, while the freezing of a living person is impossible.

The youngest "patient"

In 2015, the most unusual cryogenic freezing of a man was made. The photo of the "patient" is given below. This is a 2-year-old girl from Thailand called Materin Naovaratpong. She is the youngest person who has ever been subjected to such a specific "preservation".

The baby died two years ago, 01/08/2015. The cause was a brain tumor. 12 operations, 40 sessions of chemical and radiotherapy did not help. But her parents, having frozen the body and brain of the girl (80% of the left hemisphere which she lost by the time of death), piously believe that the Mother will ever be able to return to life. The whole procedure cost her parents $ 280,000 + $ 700 per year for storage.

Non-standard machinations

In 2009 there was a very interesting case. Although the news sounded very common: a fraudster from New York deceived investors for $ 5 million.

But the point is this. This man, whose name is Vileon Chay, somehow managed to convince investors that the money allocated to him, he invests in lucrative currency funds, precious metals and oil. However, he spent 150,000 dollars to freeze the body of his wife, who also died in 2009, and everything else - to hide. He was never found.

An example of striking enthusiasm

The photo below shows a 23-year-old student of the Faculty of Neurology named Kim Suozzy. In early 2010, she was diagnosed with a terrible brain cancer. What did the girl do? I applied for help in social networks. After telling her story, she began to collect money in order to freeze herself - until you can not find a cure for cancer or the methods of 100% treatment of the disease.

The campaign was a success. The girl was helped to collect a huge sum - many futurists and even Venturizm society participated in it. On January 17, 2013, Kim fell into a state of clinical death. On the same day, her body was cryopreserved.

The project of mass cryonization

He exists. But so far this project concerns only animals. What is the point? In the implementation of the prospects for the conservation of many species of animals. Even the storage, created specifically for this, was decided to be called "Frozen Ark". There are the DNA of those animals that are already extinct or on the brink. Scientists believe that due to genetic material and modern technologies it will be possible to clone non-existent species. And it seems real, because in 2009 a successful experiment was conducted.

Spanish scientists have organized a very complicated experience, as a result of which a cub of Pyrenean mountain goat was born! But this species completely disappeared in 2000. The DNA of the last deceased mammal was preserved - it was transferred to the egg of a domestic goat, devoid of its own genetic material. Then the embryo was transplanted into the female of another subspecies of Spanish Ibex. 439. Of these, only 7 ended in pregnancy, and one - in childbirth. But the kid was sick and because of breathing problems he died after 7 minutes. And yet, scientists do not lose hope and continue to improve their approaches and technologies.

What are the prospects?

Specialists who know how cryogenic freezing occurs and continue to develop this direction, like to share their assumptions about the role of this procedure in the near future.

They are sure: in order to restore a person as a person, only his brain will be needed. Because it is a repository of memories, skills and knowledge. As for modeling the body, it is a matter of technology and the wishes of the person himself. And to find out what the "client" looked like, only one DNA cell taken from the brain will be enough. Experts will analyze it, reveal the face of a person, clone organs and return the person to life. But all this - only assumptions about a probable future. Meanwhile, with frozen patients, a contract for 100 years is preliminary concluded. But if until that moment the method of revitalization has not been invented, the contract will automatically be extended until the time when it is possible.

In general, cryotechnologists are sure: there is a prospect. Perhaps this procedure is a step towards probable immortality. But as everything will be in reality, time will tell.
