During the Civil War, Arkady Asadov, the father of the future poet, fought in the Caucasus. When the boy was only six years old, his father took his death, and so the family moved to Eduard's grandfather - Ivan Kurdov - to the Urals, to the city of Sverdlovsk (now - Yekaterinburg).

After the war
