Courage is the absence of fear or the ability to control yourself?

Sometimes fear is equated with cowardice, but it is not. It appears irrespective of the will of the person and becomes a barrier that must be overcome (take control), making bold deeds. The ability to control your fear is important to every person, not just firefighters, doctors and those whose profession is directly related to the manifestation of courage and self-control.

Courage and fearlessness

In the generally accepted understanding, courage is associated with such characteristics as fearlessness, courage, heroism, valor and courage. Psychologists define courage as the ability to act quickly in dangerous situations (both for life and for health) to achieve the goal.

Courage is a sign of good character, which makes people worthy of respect. The enemy of courage is the fear of failure, loneliness, humiliation, success, public speaking. And in order to keep your psychological state in balance in extreme situations, you need to be able to resist fear.

The Soviet psychologist, Platonov KK, singled out 3 forms of fearlessness: courage, courage and courage. A brave person achieves a result in any situation, consciously imagining all of its danger. Otherwise it happens to brave people: they enjoy danger and emotional experiences. As for the brave person, then, according to the definition of the Soviet psychologist, for such a person the sense of duty is above fear.

Fearlessness and courage are the antipodes of fear that must be nurtured in order to achieve success and victory. And one should understand fearlessness as the ability to control behavior when feeling a sense of fear.

Training courage

The human body reflects his inner experiences. The image of the timid person looks confused: uncertain gait, lack of gesticulation in conversation, stoop and lowered gaze. Therefore, in order to overcome fear in yourself, it is necessary not only to achieve goals, but also to form a beautiful body.

Training begins with the overcoming of small fears. Is there a fear of public speaking? Then start with oratory before friends. When this is easy to get, gather a group more, for example, a person of 20, and speak to them until you get used to not being afraid.

If there is panic in communication and acquaintance with the girls, start talking with your grandmothers or try to smile on the street you like.

The first training for young students can be proverbs about courage that will help a young person cope with the first disturbances. Here are just a few examples: "Who goes ahead, that fear does not take"; "He who is bold, he is one"; "The courage of the city takes", etc.

The formula of fearlessness

Courage is the ability to act in spite of fear, for the overcoming of which it is necessary to have certain qualities:

  1. Ability to own oneself is the ability to suppress emotional emotions and to act reasonably.
  2. Concentration and calculation. These qualities help to find in the situation its optimal resolution and notice all the subtleties of the circumstances.
  3. Mobilization of forces is the concentration of internal reserves with a subsequent outbreak of energy aimed at fighting, courage, and courage .
  4. Confidence is the ability not to panic and realize that everything in this world is solved, all obstacles are overcome and there is nothing to be afraid of.

Courage without fear - insanity

Fear in assessing unsafe situations is inherent in all sensible people. This is a protective reaction of the body, arising in a dangerous situation and generating an emotional surge that sends impulses to the brain about the need to avoid the threat. Fear paralyzes the will, making us defenseless and unable to resist.

There are no fearless people. Recall at least the comic book "Striped Flight", when the character, refusing to go into the cage to predators - tigers, said: "I'm not a coward, but I'm afraid."

A brave person is still not fearless, but going at risk, knowing in advance the full dangers of the situation. But the ability to overcome the feeling of fear and fear and is considered courage.

Thus, courage is not the absence of fear, but the ability to control emotions, control oneself, your actions, actions when you feel anxious.
