How to disable the touchpad on the laptop? A few tips from specialists

Very often laptop users complain that the touchpad - built into each laptop panel, replacing the mouse - pretty much interferes during typing or other intensive work for your favorite device. But not all owners of these devices know how to disable the touchpad on the laptop, and how simple it is to do it. This article will tell users how to do it in several ways in a matter of seconds or minutes!

The answers to the question of how to disable the touchpad on the laptop can be quite a lot. But let's not dwell on such extraordinary options as closing the touch panel with a bank plastic card or a sheet of paper, as well as moving the mouse cursor to one of the rarely used areas of the screen, but focus on the really working methods.

The easiest and quickest way to lock a sensitive touchpad is to press the "Fn + F9" key combination. Pressing this key combination again will make the panel active and allow it to be used as a mouse. It should be noted that some models of laptops block the touchpad with another combination - "Fn + F8" for notebooks "Lenovo", "Fn + F7" for "Acer" or "Fn + F5" for "Dell". Many notebook manufacturers also supply their products with a small button that disables the touchpad (several HP Laptop models have this button replaced with a small luminous indicator, which can also be used to temporarily disable the sensor "mouse"). It is located at the very edge of the panel in a fairly convenient location.

The second way is that the sensor can be forced to turn off automatically when connected to a USB port of a conventional mouse. How to disable the touchpad on the laptop this way? Quite simply - just go to the mouse options on the tab called "Turning on / off the touch panel" and change the setting there to "Disconnect".

Another option is to disable the touchpad using special programs. Among such utilities there is a lot of worthwhile software, for example, "Touchfreeze", "Pointing Device Driver" for sensors from "Synaptics" and "Elan Smart-Pad". The disadvantages of such a shutdown include only that you need to install additional software on your computer, and not all such utilities will work with the operating system Windows 7, and the computer owner will again have to rack his brains about how to disable the touchpad on the laptop.

If you decide to abandon the use of the touch panel forever or at least for a long time, then you can turn it off in fairly radical ways. You can go to the settings of the laptop through the BIOS and disable the touchpad in the "Internal Pointing Device" menu. Or go much further and, taking off the front panel of the laptop, remove the cable that connects the motherboard with the touch pad. But in this case, once again, it is not so easy to make the touch "mouse" work as it is to connect the headphones to the laptop or to dim the screen brightness.

But in many ways the solution to this problem depends on the particular model of the laptop. The above are only general ways of how to disable the touchpad on the laptop as quickly as possible. Some modern models of laptops can also contain solutions laid by the manufacturer, but for most laptops, the methods described in this article are also suitable.

Before you disconnect this device in the most radical ways, you should think carefully. Do not forget that sometimes the touchpad can come in handy even if you have a regular mouse. For example, a USB-network card for a laptop will interfere with the operation of a normal mouse on a small desk, and a pair of removable media or a USB modem can simply not be physically left for the mouse of a free connector. Therefore, it is better to limit oneself to those methods that allow you to include the touchpad as quickly as you disable it.
