Convector heaters: varieties and applications

Convector heaters are devices designed to inject warm air into the room. Simplicity in operation and wide functional possibilities cause application of devices both in apartments, and in uninhabited objects, including shops, offices, hotels and restaurants.

Unlike a heat gun, convector heaters do not have a fan. And the air circulation in the room is made naturally. The device in its design is equipped with a thermocouple, which acts as a tubular electric heater. Warm air, passing through the heater, becomes warmer and rises to the upper part of the room.

At the same time, it remains cooler from below. Thus, heating and air circulation in the room are carried out. Strengthen the heat transfer allows the aluminum casing, which is installed on convector heaters and receives energy from the heating element.

When purchasing a device, you should make sure that it is suitable for the interior of the room. It is better to decide in advance where the device will be located. Depending on the room, you can choose a wall or floor convector. If the latter type can only be installed on the floor, then the wall unit is easily attached with a special bracket also to the wall.

In addition, the device needs to be placed closer to the floor, which will improve the efficiency of heating. Depending on the energy sources used, the convector heaters are divided into gas and electric heaters.

Devices operating from the network are widely used and used in all types of premises. In their favor, the affordable price, ease of operation and installation. They have compact dimensions and high safety.

Like gas, electric models do not create noise, do not burn oxygen, they do not have an unpleasant smell. For the operation of devices no installation of a pipe system is required. The devices are protected against overheating, which allows them to automatically shut off when dangerous temperatures are reached.

The presence of a built-in thermostat allows maintaining a constant temperature in the room. The disadvantage is that the electric convector heaters have a relatively low capacity, which varies from 0.5 to 2 kW. Also, these devices are less economical and most suitable for use as temporary heat sources.

Gas convector heaters, reviews about which are largely favorable, operate on natural or liquefied fuels and are more often used as the main type of heat generation. They are more economical than electrical analogues. Instruments are mounted under the windowsill, and for fuel supply require the installation of pipes.

Convector heaters of this type have a power from 2 to 6 kW, operate quietly and with low heat losses. The disadvantage is the need to organize the supply of gas and the subsequent withdrawal of combustion products, which creates certain inconveniences, especially when it is necessary to change the location of the device.
