Tablespoon as a measure of volume in the kitchen

A tablespoon is an item that can be found in any kitchen (and not in one copy). In most people, it is associated with eating. But the mistresses, who are engaged in canning vegetables for the winter or often cook pies, use this object for another purpose - measuring.

If you ask: "And how many tablespoons of sugar - a gram of 10 or maybe 20?" - not everyone will be able to answer accurately. But if you take a book of recipes, then practically every housewife has a quantity of ingredients in most cases written in spoons. Not all, of course, basically it concerns the recipes for pickling and pickling vegetables. Naturally, there are other ways of measuring liquid and loose products (faceted glasses, scales, after all), but still many people use spoons in the old manner, and the taste of cooked dishes does not suffer from it.

Earlier, when the scales in the kitchen were more of a luxury (and those that were used, gave an error of not less than 50 grams), most of the products were measured with improvised means. Most mothers and grandmothers still have a cup that they measure with flour or sugar, and the same spoon. As for the recipes of those years, in them almost all the ingredients are indicated not in grams, but in glasses and spoons. And the last option is possible even with a slide and without a slide.

But what to do if there were no precise scales at hand, but in order to bake a pie or pick up cabbage, you need to measure a certain number of products? It turns out that a tablespoon, regardless of its shape and design, has a certain capacity according to the standard. Knowing it, you can translate any number of grams into the number of these units by simple arithmetic operations. If a tablespoon is often used as a measuring instrument for the same products, the hostess already remembers how many grams there are in it, and uses it without any hints.

Flour, cocoa powder, butter, sugar, vinegar, salt - this is far from a complete list of products that are often measured with various spoons. In the kitchen there are always copies of 3 volumes: tea, dessert and dining room. The first 2 options are used if the ingredient requires a very small drop, but the latter can be measured and more, up to a kilogram (although before that it does not, most often in this case use glasses).

How much does a tablespoon of flour weigh in grams, remember not everyone, but that in a standard glass of their 6 pieces with a slide, they know absolutely all the hostesses, often engaged in baking. After all, with the help of a spoon, this loose product is most convenient for typing from the tray, sack or box, where it is stored.

For most ingredients, a tablespoon without a slide holds about 15 to 20 grams, and with a slide - one and a half times more. Of course, products with a lower density weigh less, but the difference will not be significant (no more than 10-15%), so if accuracy is not too important, then you can use this scale. As for the teaspoon, in most cases, 5 grams of the product is placed in it (if the spoon is without a slide). Dessert, on average, contains about 10-12 grams. If you remember only 3 of these values, then any components will not be difficult to translate from grams to the number of spoons. And then you can not bother with the scales, because a spoon to measure the required amount of product is much easier and more practical.
