Consider these 5 points before buying LED lamps

If your usual incandescent bulb is burnt out, it's time to try the LED variants. Before buying, you need to pay attention to some important points.

Features

You've probably heard that LED lamps have become extremely popular in the last decade. Despite the fact that they are five times more expensive than traditional species, they have a longer period of operation, which reaches more than 20 years. In addition, they consume little energy and are therefore very economical.

To date, there are different versions of LED (LED) lamps. Before buying, you need to pay attention to five important points.

How to understand how bright the light bulb is?

When buying light bulbs, you definitely pay attention to watts, as an indicator of how bright the lamp will be. LED options, however, work differently. Despite the widespread opinion, the bright light of the paw does not depend on the watt indicator. In this case, there is a certain relationship between the value of the watt of the incandescent lamp and the brightness, whereas the LED type has no such connection. It should also be remembered that the key to the LED lamp is its economy, which implies low power consumption and, accordingly, a low watt. Proceeding from this, a traditional 60 watt piercing lamp corresponds to a LED with an indicator of 8-12 watts.

In order not to get confused, you need to pay attention to the indicator, which directly indicates how bright the light bulb is lumen. There are tables that show the relationship between the indicators of the LED types and the bulbs and the number of watts required for their operation. And it is clear that for the same number of lumens different lamps use different amounts of energy.

Colour

You can always be sure that the incandescence lamp will give a warm yellowish color. In this case, LED types can provide a wide range of colors, from violet and red to white and yellow. For the house, of course, it is better to choose more traditional ways. Pay attention to the following inscriptions on the package: warm white, soft white and bright white. The first two types are similar to incandescent bulbs, whereas the latter type creates a bright white light, similar to the daylight or to the one you see in stores and supermarkets.

If you are interested in the technical side of the question, then the color (color temperature) is measured in Kelvin. The lower this value, the more yellow the color will be. The color temperature of the incandescent lamp is between 2700-3500 Kelvin.

Economical

Some people compare LED lamps with hybrid cars: they are cheap to operate, but expensive when buying. Forget about the initial gain, most likely it will resemble the investment. Despite the fact that the number of manufacturers has increased, which has a positive impact on the cost, the price of LED lamps is much higher than traditional ones. Over time, the lamp will pay for itself by a longer life and lower energy consumption. However, in order to see the big difference in the bills for electricity payment, the LEDs need to replace all the paws in the larger house.

Shutdown

Due to the circuit features, LED lamps are not always compatible with traditional switches. Most of the methods that are designed to work with incandescent lamps function by cutting down the amount of electricity provided to the lamp. Accordingly, the less electricity a lamp receives, the dimmer it shines. You already know that LED lamps do not have a connection between the amount of electricity and the brightness of the lamp, so that such a shutdown mode is not suitable for such options. Accordingly, you have two options: replace the old switch or buy a special LED lamp for your particular case, which may be somewhat more expensive.

That's why when buying an LED lamp you need to know your type of switch. However, if you do not know it, and most likely, it's just that, then look for the inscription on the package that says that this option is compatible with traditional switches for incandescent lamps.

Location:

Knowing the optimal places where you should have LED lamps, will allow several times to extend their life. You probably know that LED types are heated much less than incandescent lamps, but this does not mean that they do not produce heat at all. The LED lamp also heats up, but it has a special heat sink that dissipates heat in the air. That's why this light bulb is always cold, which ensures its longer life. From this, the location problem occurs. The LED lamp needs space, where you can send heat. If it is placed in a closed case, the heat can not go away, and the lamp will die a slow and painful death. That is why for such options it is necessary to find open or semi-enclosed places, or to find a special LED lamp, which is intended for use in enclosed spaces.

LED lamps have a number of undeniable advantages in comparison with traditional lamps. They have a long service life, are very economical, and also give bright daylight. Despite this, before buying them, you need to pay attention to some important points. This will allow using such light bulbs in the most effective way.
