Composition of feed for broilers with their own hands. What to feed the broilers?
With the product range in supermarkets, there are no problems today, especially if it concerns semi-finished products and chicken meat. But, despite this, most summer residents prefer to grow domestic broilers over the summer. This is no accident, because such meat can be considered really environmentally friendly, because you know exactly what your birds used to eat. The taste qualities of such meat also qualitatively differ from the store one.
When selecting chicks, the question arises as to which breed is most suitable for growing, resistant to diseases, and also has a quick set of weight. Most often a broiler is chosen. For three months these birds reach 5 kilograms of weight. Of great importance is what you will feed your bird. You can buy ready-made dry mixes or prepare their own at home. The composition of the broiler feed, made by hand, is the topic of our today's article.
Recipe for success
So, the first thing you need is to choose chicks that have good genetic potential, and provide them with quality nutrition. How should it be? Good feed ensures growth and development of the bird. Of course, ready-made mixtures look more preferable, because their packaging already contains the content of fats, proteins and carbohydrates, which means that you do not have to invent anything yourself.
However, today, industrial feeds differ in that a large number of growth stimulants and vitamins are added to the mixture. This is not so bad, but most of them help to retain water in the muscles. As a result, the quality of meat is severely affected. You can buy these in the store, but we want to get excellent chickens. The composition of feed for broilers, made by hand, is not at all complicated. For this, only the age characteristics of the chickens need to be considered.
"Starter" composition for chickens
Nutrition of babies should be balanced and high-calorie and give yellow vitals all the necessary substances for intensive growth. Now they will change almost every day, and the shortage of any trace element can affect the fragile organism. So, the composition of the broiler feed, made with his own hands, includes four components:
- Corn - it is extremely important for the stomachs of chicks.
- Peas.
- Wheat is a source of carbohydrates.
- Barley is an ideal product for good digestion.
Possible Additives
All cereals are crushed so that the kids can absorb them. Do not forget that we are talking about chicks at the age from birth to 14 days. Manufacturers often add vegetable fat, vitamin-mineral premix, and antibiotics to such a mixture. At home, it is best to replace these components with a reverse or curdled milk, fresh grass and cottage cheese.
What else can be added to the broiler feed? With your own hands, you create not an analog of factory mixes, but really an optimal diet that promotes the maximum rapid growth and development, a set of body weight. Even in the starting feed, you can add a little sunflower seed meal and table salt, fish concentrate, meat-and-bone flour, limestone or shell rock.
The second phase of life - the development of muscles and bones
Your chicks are celebrated for 14 days. Chickens have changed a lot during this time, they are already beginning their first molt. What to feed the broilers at this time? The second type of feed should provide a set of muscle mass and the formation of the skeleton. The sooner this process is completed, the better will be the process of gaining weight, which is the ultimate goal. The grain composition may remain the same, but the grinding should be larger. Obligatory components must be protein and amino acids, mineral-vitamin complexes, enzymes and antioxidants.
Different approaches to poultry fattening
In fact, this decision is based on the individual experience of each house. At large poultry farms whole brigades of livestock specialists decide what to feed the broilers. Usually, they break the entire life cycle into three periods and, on this basis, choose the optimal mixtures. The first feed is given to chickens aged 1 to 3 weeks. Its task is to strengthen immunity and save life with fragile yellow-throats. At 4-5 weeks the chicks are already quite large, and the composition changes to the starting one. Now the bird forms muscles and strengthens the bones. After the seventh week comes the last phase, when the bird is gaining weight due to a large number of fats, proteins and carbohydrates.
The composition of feed for broilers at home is usually changed twice for the entire period of life. Up to four weeks, the bird is given starter kits, and after and right down to the bottom - the finish kits. In addition to the composition, the size of individual fractions also varies. For chickens, the whole food should be ground to the state of fine grains, and after four weeks, the granular form is optimal.
Fattening of the bird after 14 days
The first thing you need to understand for yourself what is included in the feed for broilers. But in parallel there is also a second task, you need to know exactly how much feed you need to give daily for all the livestock. On one chick at the age of 14 days, it takes about 25 grams per day. Now just multiply this amount by all. You got a figure and now you know how much mixture you need to cook for a day. However, we still need to calculate in what proportion all the components will be included in the feed for broiler chickens. The composition is approximately the following:
- Corn is about half the volume.
- Cake or cake - 19%.
- Wheat - 13%.
- Meat or fishmeal - 7%.
- Fodder yeast - 5%.
- The return is dry - 3%.
- Grass fresh or dried - 3%.
- Fat feed - 1%.
At the same time, the number of feeds needs to be adjusted every day, as the chick quickly grows and changes.
Yeast and wet pouches
Dry mixes are an important food for broiler chickens. The composition may vary slightly, but the base must remain the same. To diversify the ration of chicks and stimulate good growth, the cereal mixtures are yeasted. It is not difficult to prepare them. Pressed yeast is diluted in water, and then all other ingredients are added there. About 15 kg of water comes out about 10 kg of the mixture. It remains to mix thoroughly and put in a warm place. After six hours it can be fed. For chickens at the age of 14 days, you can add carrots or boiled potatoes in small quantities.
Finish feed
At home, nothing usually changes. The composition of the feed-finish for broilers is similar to the one you gave starting from 14 days. The only difference is the volume. With good growth at the age of two weeks to a month, you need to give from 50 to 120 g of feed per bird. From month to the very face - about 150 g.
From a month in the mixture you can add bread and boiled potatoes. Very useful is the introduction into the diet of carrots or yellow pumpkin in a frayed form. To improve the work of the gastrointestinal tract, the formation of the skeleton and normal plumage in the diet should be present chalk and gravel, bone meal and sulfur.
Useful additives
Despite the fact that after a month the chicks no longer look so tender and weak, it is extremely important to maintain a full-fledged diet. At this age, the skeleton is intensively growing, which means that the need for calcium increases. Bird can mix milk, it may not be the most fresh, but not peroxidized. The ideal option is fresh curd or yogurt. Greens are the most important additive, which not only contains vitamins and trace elements, but also helps digestion. It can be peas and clover, leaf sow and dandelion. The grass is cut into pieces and added to the mesh.
Feeding advice
The success of growing largely depends on the cleanliness of the feeder and its size. Organize space so that each bird can find a place around it. Unsanitary conditions contribute to the development of infections, and this is a direct way to disrupting the work of the digestive tract of chickens, disease and even death. Therefore, it is necessary to clean the places of detention often and very carefully. Fill the trough should not immediately to the top, and a third, so that a significant part of the food is not scattered and trampled. For prevention in the morning, the bird is given a 1% solution of potassium permanganate. After that, the drinkers are rinsed and poured with clean water.
Instead of concluding
It is much easier to buy ready-made food than to do it yourself. However, today many farmers are faced with the fact that the bird grown on them does not differ from the store's taste. Of course, chickens grow much faster, but the meat at the outlet is loose, watery. Therefore, they refuse such grain mixtures, especially since their purchase is more expensive than cooking at home. But you will always be absolutely sure that the grown meat is completely natural and will not bring anything but good.
