Coffee and sweets, fries and "hot dogs" - all these together are the causes of heartburn

Nothing can ruin the pleasure of dinner like heartburn. That's just been so delicious, satisfying and pleasant, and suddenly - in the chest burning sensation, in the mouth a sour taste, begins to nausea, excruciates an eructation. The negative feelings, which are also amplified, should only bend or lie down.

It is believed that about 40 percent of all people from time to time torment heartburn. And in developed countries, where "fast food" is cultivated, there are even more such sufferers. And there is a reasonable explanation for this - eating on the go, fat and spicy food, which are served by fast food outlets and world-famous Asian cuisine establishments, are the first provocateurs of this unpleasant phenomenon. It is the wrong food, sensitivity to certain foods and bad habits - the main causes of heartburn.

Because of what it arises? Once you have eaten something, the food in your stomach starts to be digested under the influence of acid-saturated gastric juice. At some moments, this acid splashes into the esophagus, immediately there is irritation, which is given a burning sensation. Perhaps you have noticed, as with a sharp slope after eating, heartburn occurs in the throat. This is the action of that very gastric juice. For the same reason, painful sensations increase when the body takes a horizontal position - it is easier for an acid to enter the esophagus.

Why fatty, fried, spicy food, coffee and fizzy drinks, chocolate and all kinds of spices are the main causes of heartburn? Because they stimulate the stomach to produce more acid. And the more we "lean" on such food, the more sensitive the esophagus becomes, the longer becomes the list of foods to which it reacts with heartburn.

The situation is aggravated by smoking: it weakens the sphincter of the circular muscle, the same valve that regulates the flow of juice into the stomach. In addition, smokers produce less saliva. By the way, peppermint, which is a part of some medicines and food products, also has the property of relaxing the valve, which prevents the acid from entering the esophagus.

You can find the causes of heartburn and in taking some medicines. These include analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, soothing. Fish oil, actively recommended for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and depressions, also has such an unpleasant side effect. At the same time, oily fish, cooked in any way, except frying, is an excellent remedy for heartburn.

No one has proved that under stressful situations, a person produces more gastric juice than necessary, but it is for certain that when people are stressed, their sensitivity increases literally. Including the pain symptoms from the irritation of the esophagus.

Whatever the causes of heartburn, the treatment is to suppress gastric secretion (acid production), and also normalize the motor skills of the esophagus and stomach, so that the food is timely moved along the intended route. This is achieved not only by taking prescribed medicines, but also a specially designed diet. And do not confuse the suppression of heartburn with antacids with the treatment of the disease itself!

But to prevent a burning sensation in the stomach, sitting down at the table, it is possible. First of all, just sit down at the table, and do not snack on the run, do not overeat and observe moderation in using the above provocative products. Mineral water for dinner, especially bicarbonate - an excellent preventive tool. After eating, do not immediately go to bed - give time to your stomach to cope with the digestion of food.
