"Early Cranes": a short summary (Aitmatov)

The events of the story take place during the Second World War. In ayil in Kyrgyzstan there is a poor little school, it does not heat the classes, but there is no way out, and children have to be content with what they have.

At the blackboard the teacher tells the frozen and cold children about the distant exotic island of Ceylon. There it is warm, unusual and amazing animals are found, unprecedented plants and fruits grow, and people live according to strange customs and laws.

But not all students listen attentively to the teacher. Far from the school of thought of a 14-year-old boy named Sultanmurat, the main character of the story "Early Cranes." The summary describes the thoughts of the child. His thoughts come back to childhood, when he and his father went to the zoo and circus, walked around, did housework, then the war did not start yet, and his father did not go to the front. In the family of Sultanmurat there are four children, and our hero is the oldest of them, so the care of the younger fell on his shoulders. But the boy's thoughts not only about his father, he also dreams about classmate Myrzagul.

Because of the difficulties that arose with the advent of the war, the collective farm chairman appealed for help in plowing to schoolchildren. After a short discussion it was decided that now the children instead of the school will go to work on the field together with the adult population of ayil.

Sultanmurat is instructed to watch the horses. Before him, these animals were handled by his father, so the boy takes special care of them, cares and feels a connection with the parent. Since Sultanmurat showed himself well, he is appointed to lead the workers' detachment. They are sent to the Aksakay tract for processing fields. Sultanmurat is now responsible for horses, people, controls work and monitors equipment.

Myrzagul

Despite the responsibility that fell on his shoulders, the hero of the story "Early Cranes" still remains a teenager. The summary tells how once a friend of the boy Atynai, deciding to draw attention to Myrzagul, begins riding on his horse in front of her, but mistakes and falls with the horse. The animal podvorachivaet joint and begins to limp. Sultanmurat, responsible for the horses, is beaten as a punishment for the oversight by the foreman.

The boy's mother is sick. It becomes more difficult for him to be responsible for his family. But then his uncle, his mother's brother, comes and takes over part of Sultanmurat's duties.

About how the boy misses Myrzagul, tells a brief description ("Early Cranes"). Therefore, Sultanmurat sends his brother to give the girl a message. But she does not answer.

However, soon teenagers meet at the well, where the boy manages to confess his feelings to Myrzagul. The girl reciprocates. But then the jealous Atynai appears and attacks the classmate, wishing to teach him a lesson.

Decoupling

Approaches to the denouement of the work "Early Cranes" are brief. Aitmatov creates a hero who is capable of forgiveness and kindness. When the news of the death of his father Atyna comes, Sultanmurat sympathizes with his offender and supports him.

The work on the first field is completed. However, a misfortune is coming. In the yurt, where schoolchildren slept, the horse thieves make their way and connect the disciples. Criminals take away several horses. The guys manage to get out, and Sultanmurat goes for thieves in pursuit of his father's horse. The thieves manage to escape by shooting the animal of their pursuer. The boy falls to the ground and cries. Here Sultanmurat sees an approaching wolf.

The work "Early Cranes" (a brief summary of the chapters was presented in the article) ends with the way the protagonist gets up, winds his horse's bridle and prepares to fight the beast.
