Causes, prevention and signs of anemia in women: treatment features

We used to think about our health at the last. Often people suffer a cold "on their feet", prescribe themselves vitamins and painkillers, and the medical examination has not yet become a habit among Russians.

"Trifling" at first glance symptoms can signal a serious illness, so it is very important to listen to your body. Signs of anemia in women are often attributed to excessive workload and stress. However, diagnosis and timely treatment can significantly improve the condition of patients.

What is anemia?

This is a clinico-hematologic syndrome, in which blood levels of hemoglobin decrease and the number of red blood cells decreases. By itself anemia is not a disease, therefore in medicine there are seven of its classifications according to various signs.

Most experts diagnose iron deficiency anemia, in which there is a violation of the balance of one of the most important elements. It is iron is in the composition of many enzymes involved in the life of the body.

The causes and symptoms of anemia in women require special attention. First, representatives of the fair sex may not even suspect about their illness. Increased fatigue or drowsiness, bad mood and even hair loss often write off for beriberi.

Unfortunately, multivitamin complexes only temporarily can weaken the signs of anemia in adult women, but an independent solution to the problem is impossible.

Hemolytic, iron deficient, aplastic or B12-deficient - it is impossible to determine the type of anemia only based on the patient's complaints, so do not delay the visit to the doctor.

Diagnostics

Even if you read all the literature and find out all the signs of anemia in women, only a specialist is able to diagnose and prescribe the appropriate treatment. Diagnosis is based on the following studies:

- Biochemical blood test (determination of the level of OJSS, iron, hemoglobin, bilirubin and ferritin);

- a general blood test (determination of the number of reticulocytes and platelets, study of the morphology of erythrocytes).

In addition, the doctor can prescribe bone marrow puncture, endoscopic and roentgenological examination of the intestine and stomach, lung tomography or ultrasound of the kidneys - all measures are taken to exclude various diseases.

Iron-deficiency anemia

Deficiency of iron is observed in the following diseases or physiological states:

  1. Blood loss of various genesis. Most often, increased consumption of iron occurs with bleeding from the digestive canal (peptic ulcer, gastritis) and uterine (uterine fibroids). Less common cause are traumatological, pulmonary, renal or nasal bleeding.
  2. Unbalanced nutrition. In adults and children, iron deficiency is observed in fasting, chronic malnutrition, as well as in the case of a monotonous diet with a high content of sugars and fats. Babies may not receive a sufficient amount of an important element in iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy.
  3. Impaired absorption of iron. Absorption of iron worsens due to cicatricial, atrophic and inflammatory processes in the small intestine. In addition, specialists also recall the physiological conditions, which sharply increase the need for iron. These include pregnancy and lactation - at this point, the first signs of anemia in women appear. Stock in the body is not enough for the placenta, fetal needs or blood loss during childbirth.

During the first two years of life, because of rapid growth, the child also feels the need for iron. The next stage of accelerated development occurs during puberty, in girls it is associated with the onset of menstruation.

In the risk group

Why are we talking about women? Specialists have calculated that hidden iron deficiency is observed in women of childbearing age (20-30%), and every third of the fair sex suffers from iron deficiency anemia.

Main reasons:

- Pregnancy;

Uterine bleeding;

- abnormal menstruation.

Symptoms of anemia in women

The main signs of anemia can cause a lot of inconvenience. General malaise and weakness, decreased efficiency and drowsiness - these are the most common complaints of women. In addition, dry mouth, dyspnoea, palpitations and swallowing occur. With severe anemia, dizziness and headache accompany fainting.

Unfortunately, the imbalance of iron inevitably affects the appearance:

  1. Skin: pale color (sometimes with a greenish tinge), cracks, peeling, dryness and loss of elasticity.
  2. Nails: loss of shine, change in shape (coilonichia), brittleness and delamination.
  3. Hair: a tendency to gray hair, loss, dull color, split ends.

Decreased appetite, the need for salt, spicy or sour food, perversion of taste and smell are all signs of iron deficiency anemia in women who quickly disappear with proper treatment.

Treatment

The tactics of treating anemia depend on the severity of the condition and the type of anemia. First of all, it is necessary to establish the cause of its occurrence and, if possible, eliminate it.

An integrated approach not only helps to eliminate signs of anemia in women, but also replenishes the supplies of necessary substances in the body. An important step is the observance of the therapeutic diet.

With iron deficiency anemia, the attending physician prescribes iron preparations. According to WHO recommendations, preference is given to drugs with ferrous iron. The duration of treatment should not be less than three months.

Iron-containing drugs are on the pharmaceutical market in large quantities:

"Ferrum lek."

- "Sorbifer durules".

- "Zhekttofer."

- "Totem".

"The Conferon."

- "Ferroceron".

- "Maltofer".

"Ferroplex."

"Tardiferon."

"The Feramid."

"Iron" products

Iron preparations are prescribed based on the results of laboratory tests, and help to eliminate signs and symptoms of anemia.

Councils for the treatment of women also include the development of a balanced diet, where products with high iron content are presented:

  1. Vegetables: mushrooms, green radish, dried tomatoes, spinach, beans, parsley, carrots, broccoli, green peas and Brussels sprouts.
  2. Fruits: apricots (dried apricots), watermelon, persimmon, raisins, currants, dates, pomegranate and prunes.
  3. Red meat. This product should not be abused, it is enough 2-3 times a week to eat a small amount of lean meat. Improbably useful and offal, for example, beef liver.
  4. Cereals: wild rice, bulgur, oat flakes, basmati rice, barley and corn.

A special diet, saturated with products with iron, is an effective way to increase the level of hemoglobin in the blood. However, in an emergency situation, when the level of hemoglobin tends to critically low, the attending physician takes more effective measures.

ethnoscience

In folk medicine, there must be a cure for any illness. It turns out that the signs of anemia in women, according to the ancient recipes of healers and healers, can be removed with the help of ordinary products.

Council number 1. Radish - this vegetable was already on our list. During the day, eat a teaspoon of grated radish (6 receptions). The course of treatment is one month.

Council number 2. To normalize the pressure, as well as getting rid of drowsiness, weakness, lack of appetite and vitality will help milk with garlic. Boil a glass of milk and add 2-3 crushed cloves of garlic. Drink three times a day for 30 ml.

Prevention

We know that representatives of the fair sex are inclined to self-improvement. However, experiments with appearance do not always end well.

The main danger is represented by diets based on the use of one product or severely limiting the diet. If a woman refuses to lose weight for a while from iron-containing foods, then her state of health should be under control.

Lovers of coffee should reconsider their habits, because excessive consumption of a fragrant drink accelerates leaching of iron from the body.
