Castration of men

Digestion, namely such a synonym for the Latin word castratio, is castration, which implies the complete cessation or suppression in some way of the sexual female or male glands that can not be restored back. Castration of men is done either for religious purposes or for medical purposes. In the modern world, this practice is rare.

Castration of men can be carried out by means of various methods, one of which is the effect on the gonads of multiple X-ray irradiations. It is also produced when exposed to certain chemical or hormonal substances. Often practiced castration of men by surgical intervention, namely by surgically removing the sex glands.

This condition can also be caused by trauma or infection, which is always accompanied by the fact that the tissues of the sex glands are subject to complete destruction. There are cases when castration remains the only option in the complex treatment of a number of serious diseases. But for carrying out this kind of surgery, strictly medical indications are required. And its implementation occurs only by hormonal or radiotherapy.

Thus, castration of men is carried out by removing the testicles themselves, and is called orchiectomy. It is carried out if malignant tumors are found in the testicles or in the prostate gland. Surgical castration in women is also performed by the operative method by removing the ovaries from it when they detect malignant tumors. And in those cases when the diagnosis of breast or cervical cancer, and even with some other ailments. Female castration is called ovariectomy.

Radiation castration is prescribed somewhat less often. It implies multiple actions of ionizing radiation directly on the ovaries, which subsequently leads to the termination of the performance of their functions. Men who are contraindicated in any type of castration described above (ray or surgical) are generally prescribed a course of treatment with hormonal drugs.

This kind of therapy can be prescribed for women who are in the period of menopause or menopause.

Distinguish between partial castration, when as a result of the operation, one of the functions (or endocrine, or generative) stops. With complete castration, both of these functions cease to function. But if, for example, if you receive a trauma, the sexual gland's ability to perform any one of them is lost, then this condition is not treated as castration. Mainly because the iron that is still left, is able to completely or at least partially compensate for the performance of the missing function.

Castration, namely its clinical manifestations, very much depends on the age at which it was carried out. Thus, castration of boys in their childhood in all cases leads to the most enormous and sometimes irreversible disturbances in the activity of their organism. But the castration of an adult woman or a man who already had experience of sexual relations earlier in her life will not bring such terrible consequences.

Of course, you can not do without troubles. But this will not lead to the breakdown of sexual functions, although it will entail a number of certain vegetative-vascular and metabolic disorders, as well as some other problems. Castration of men, which in some cases has clinical manifestations, is described by eunuchism.

An alternative to surgical castration a few decades ago was developed chemical castration, which is substantially more humane and much safer not only for human health, but also for its psyche.

Apply it, mainly in those cases where a man with his sexual preferences carries a danger to others. Such treatment involves suppression of the sexual function directly by the use of certain medications. But this process is completely reversible. What does it mean if a man stops taking medications that suppress his libido, then eventually he will return to sex and the erection, and the testosterone level will rise.
