Broad-leaved forest animals - large species diversity

Broad-leaved forests on our planet are located in the temperate latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere. They occupy a significant part of Western Europe, except the Mediterranean, growing in Eastern Europe, as well as in the Middle Volga and southern Central Russia. Large areas are occupied by these forests in the Far East, in China and Japan, they cover the Korean peninsula. In North America, this natural area is located in the north-eastern part of the continent.

The most suitable climate for them is a temperate continental or temperate marine, with warm winter and relatively hot in summer. For this natural zone, deciduous tree species are characteristic : hornbeam, oak, maple, beech, linden, elm, chestnut, ash. The grassy cover is dominated by a hoof, sedge, hay, medinitsa, proleznik and others.

Broad-leaved forest animals are represented by a large variety of mammals. There are a lot of ungulates inhabiting here, and among them, first of all, there are moose, deer, roe deer and wild boar. Among the large rodents there are beavers, muskrats, nutria, squirrels.

Predatory animals of deciduous forests are brown bears, wolves, foxes, lynxes. Of lesser predators, one can call a forest cat, marten and chorry. In these forests there are many large birds, in particular, wood grouse, black grouse, ducks, herons, cranes. Of small birds, the most common swallows, finches, starlings, mites, woodpeckers. Carp in the waters of the forest zone, fish predominate among fish, salmon are also found.

The animals of broadleaf forests of North America in terms of species composition almost do not differ from European ones, but there are also some endemic animals that you will not see in other parts of the world, for example, the black bear baribal. Raccoons, badgers, skunks are widespread. In the fauna of North American broad-leaved forests there is a representative of the marsupial rats - opossum.

White-tailed, or virgin deer is a relative of the European noble. In the recent past, commercial hunting was conducted on it, as a result of which the number of these graceful animals was significantly reduced.

Of the birds of the American species proper, wild turkeys are best known, and there are also hummingbirds that penetrate from the south of the continent.

The animals of broadleaf forests of East Asia are adapted to life in conditions of a damp warm season and a cold winter. The fauna is rich and unique, it includes species close to the North American and Asian tropical - tigers, leopards, some birds and insects.

Within China, there is little forest, the Far Eastern forests have been preserved mainly in the territory of Russia. A careful attitude to nature in Japan allowed to save the forest mountain belt on the islands of Hokkaido and Honshu. Forest animals feel free also in numerous national parks and reserves throughout the country.

At present, this natural zone is violated as a result of human activity, as a result, many inhabitants of broad-leaved forests are on the verge of extinction. On large areas in both Eurasia and North America, broad-leaved trees are replaced by fast-growing small-leaved trees. Gradually, the habitats of some species of fauna also decrease. Many rare endangered animals, such as spotted deer, bustard, mandarin, red wolf, goral, are included in the International Red Book and are strictly protected.
