Bonus-Malus ratio (KBM). Classes of MSC for compulsory motor TPL insurance: table. MSC 1 class 3 - what does this mean?

Not every driver knows what KBM classes are. At the same time, it is not only useful but also profitable to deal with such issues. We will analyze the question from the very beginning, that is, for such an automobile owner who does not even know how the MBM is deciphered, and look at some of the subtleties of its application.

Compulsory insurance

Every car owner, along with the other documents, must have OSAGO. This is mandatory motor third party liability insurance. Thanks to policies, all drivers are thus protected. If an accident occurs, then the insured side of the accident is paid to the injured party to restore the vehicle. And if harm to health was caused, then for recovery.

In this type of insurance, there is a system designed to encourage drivers to accident-free ride. And the measure is valid in respect of the perpetrators of the road accident. It is implemented through the MBM classes. We will study what they mean and how they work.

MBM classes

KBM stands for bonus-malus ratio. The bonus is received by the driver who does not fall into the accident, the culprit is himself, and the malus, that is, the reduction of the coefficient, respectively, receives the one who initiates the accident.

Accident-free driving can last many years. But insurers, naturally, are not interested in that the decrease in the cost of the policy reaches zero. Therefore, they provided a threshold, after which the cost of insurance is no longer reduced. That's 50%.

There are drivers who go by all the rules of the road for many years and do not violate them. It would be unfair if they had to pay as much as those motorists who almost did not recognize the rules on the road.

So, the maximum coefficient is 0.50. To achieve this result, you do not have to fall into an accident for 10 years.

Lowering the class or losing discounts

Even after receiving the maximum discount, do not think that it is given forever without any conditions. If the driver gets into an accident, becoming its culprit, the discount goes down and comes to one, after which it will have to re-move a long time to the cherished 50%. But if the driver got behind the wheel only recently and his discount is small, as a result of the accident, it will not only be canceled, but the cost of insurance will even increase.

From the point of view of conscientious drivers, this is more than a reasonable measure: if you drive so that you are dangerous to others, pay for your policy more!

A lot of traffic accidents happen just because of incompetence or dishonesty of drivers. Only to pay such people will be more only in those cases when they fall through their fault in an accident. Therefore, with minor incidents, it is much better for them to agree with the injured party and without calling traffic police officials to settle the matter. Then only some will remain satisfied (as it will not be necessary to waste time and nerves on interaction with the insurance company), and others (since the discount on the policy as it was, it will remain the same).

By the way, you need to know that the classes of MSC for OSAGO do not apply to trailers. Also, it will not be taken into account if the policy is issued for a citizen of a foreign country or a vehicle for transit.

Class of MBM for OSAGO: table

So, based on the table below, you can calculate your MSC. In the horizontal line indicates the driver's class at the beginning of the validity period of the insurance policy. Depending on the driving for the year (accident-free or with an accident, with the subsequent payment of insurance) for the next year, one or another class of MSC for OSAGO is assigned. The table consists of fifteen classes, where "M", meaning "maximum", is assigned to the penalty box.

What class is the driver getting for the first time behind the wheel?

In the first insurance year, the driver is assigned a third class. We will study in this example how to understand the classes of MSC. The table, if you look at the first vertical row, contains a class, and if on the second - 1. This is its coefficient. So, KBM 1, class 3. What does this mean?

If in this year of driving the driver does not get into traffic accidents (look at the third column), then in the next insurance period he will have KBM - 0.95, class - 4, respectively. Then the discount will be equal to five percent. However, if an accident occurs during this period, it will be assigned to the 2nd class, where the MBM is 1.4. Then for insurance will have to pay more by 40%.

Beginners at the wheel should be very cautious, since with two or more accidents, MSC will be the maximum and will be equal to 2.45. But with the next year of accident-free ride the third class driver will return, and he again will not have to overpay for insurance policy.

KBM, equal to 0.5, means a maximum fifty percent discount. But if such a driver gets into an accident, then he is assigned the 7th class, which corresponds to a coefficient of 0.8.

Several motorists are enrolled in compulsory motor TPL insurance

If the insurance policy is issued for several drivers, the MSC is considered to be special. The basis is taken by the largest coefficient. For example, if four drivers inscribe in insurance, three of which are equal to 0.7 and lower, but only one has 0.9, insurance will be considered based on the last MBM, that is, taking into account a 10% discount.

MBM with unlimited insurance

If you intend to buy a compulsory insurance policy that an unlimited number of people can use, the MSC is treated differently. Based on the data of the owner of the car.

It is important to keep in mind that if a policy was previously purchased for a limited number of persons, and then it was decided to re-form it to unlimited, then it should be inscribed in it separately those persons who were included in the policy with a limited number of persons. Otherwise, the KBM classes of the latter will be lost.

How to check the bonus-malus ratio?

Please note that the MSC is not entered in a single database of the Russian Union of Auto Insurers. There is only information about previous car insurance. But the ratio is calculated and verified directly in the insurance company when buying a policy driver. The ICs are obliged to apply MSCI classes for OSAGO, as well as to enter information about accidents in which the driver was a participant in their car.

Therefore, it is in insurance companies that you can check the MSC and provide relevant information.

However, it is possible to learn about this in other ways. For example, by going to the site of the SAR and contacting the KMB database there. To do this, you will need to record your VIN code or state machine number and data about the owner.

Rarely (as this is not an obligation), insurance companies indicate the MBM in the insurance policy. Therefore, sometimes it is sufficient to study the document carefully. The number can be specified opposite the name of each driver or in special notes.

At many sites today there are online calculators, with which you can easily calculate your MBM. Thus, you can learn it yourself.

KMB Database

So, data for calculating the coefficient the insurance company takes from the database of the Russian Union of Auto Insurers. They are paid directly by insurance companies, which insured drivers. This feature should be remembered especially for those who decide to change their SC to another. It is best for them to obtain a certificate from the former insurance company, where the MSC will be indicated. The fact is that some of them can make inaccurate information or forget about it, there may also be problems with the system loading and so on. Therefore, it is better to be safe and personally bring a document proving you have a certain coefficient, so that "accidentally" you do not zero it.

Discount Features

In this regard, the following information should be considered.

Still recently the discount for accident-free driving was registered for a specific car. When he sold and bought a new driver, he had to re-enter his insurance history. In identifying the shortcomings of this system, it was decided to abandon it. Now all that quantity, how many MBM classes exists, relates directly to the driver. Therefore, it does not matter which car he drives and in which insurance company he acquired the OSAGO policy. The main thing is a trouble-free ride.

Individual questions that drivers often ask

Let's consider some separate situations.

What to do, for example, one of the drivers who is inscribed in the OSAGO and changed his driving license? In the case of a valid contract, you should immediately contact the UK. The policyholder in writing notifies the insurer about it so that the latter makes adjustments to the information base of the Russian Union of Insurers.

Another issue of interest to motorists is how the MSC is determined if the insurance contract is not limited by the number of drivers, so that in the previous period the contract provided for the limitation of their number. In this case, the SC assigns a class that is specified in the insurance contract. How does the UK operate if the situation consists in the reverse, that is, the previous insurance contract has no restrictions on the number of persons, and the new one is concluded on conditions with limitations? In this case, the insurance company is obliged to reduce the MSC.

Class 3 - what does this mean for the driver? In addition, that this class is assigned to the person who first got behind the wheel, if the driver did not sign the OSAGO contract for more than a year, whatever discount he had before, he burns and he again gets the class, as he sat behind the wheel for the first time. That is MSC 1, class 3.

What does this mean for the driver, if he does not provide full information about the accident at the conclusion of the contract? Incorrect calculation will be detected by the system immediately. Therefore, the insurance company in this case imposes penal sanctions on the driver. They are expressed in 1.5 KBM. That is, in the next year the payment will increase by 1.5 coefficient.

Conclusion

We examined what the MSC classes mean, how they are calculated, applied and verified. Drivers need to remember that it is important not only to be able to drive a car and comply with all existing traffic rules. It will also be useful to understand some related issues, such as, for example, insurance and its subtleties, that is, our current topic. Then he will feel at the wheel confidently, at the same time saving his money.
