Bombardier Q400 - business in Canadian

The Canadian company Bombardier was founded in the 50s of the last century. By the end of the century, the list of products included a variety of types of equipment, from trams to airplanes. The 90s were marked for the company by several important events.

First, the corporation sold the shares of its subsidiary company engaged in land transport, while the controlling stake remained with the Bombardier family. The second event occurred in 1992 - the Boeing purchased a patent for production of DHC series aircraft, better known as Dash 8. Finally, the Quiet system was created, the name of which was later reduced to one first character. It is completed only by aviation Bombardier. The Q400 is a machine designed for short and medium distances, a new development of the company. It is about her, her abilities and virtues today's review.

Description

Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 is a new, expanded version of the aircraft of the Canadian manufacturer Bombardier Aerospace. In the world of aircraft construction, the company occupies an honorable third place after such concerns as Boeing and Airbus. In Russia, the products of this manufacturer are not very well known. Until recently, Canadian aircraft used only one company, carrying out air traffic in the Sakhalin region. However, from official sources it is known that it is quite possible to conclude an agreement on the production of these aircraft in the territory of Russia.

Unlike their counterparts, the Bombardier Q400 is a turboprop aircraft. Two motors are placed on the wings of the car. The expanded version is capable of taking on board about 100 passengers, which is quite comparable with the "Superjet 100" aircraft. In this case, unlike the latter, Canadians developed a plane designed for one class. According to the type of construction, it refers to narrow-bodied aircraft.

In addition to the basic model, the company produces several modifications, including passenger, cargo and even military versions. At the same time, there are orders for a special naval version for other countries. In this case, there is no particular difference in the names of the modifications.

Features

The Bombardier Q400 received several interesting features. The first and the cardinal is, of course, the type of motors. Most airlines "serve" jet aircraft. On the other hand, the screw will be cheaper both in maintenance and, probably, in production.

The second feature of the aircraft can be called a passenger cabin. If compared with other passenger liners, this is a business-class aircraft. In all rows of 4 chairs, a pair of each side of the aisle. Using the same comparison, we can see that there are no places B and E.

The next thing to note is that the wings are attached to the top of the fuselage, whereby the entire body is located lower than most of the brethren, thanks to this the plane received its own gangway on the front left door.

The presence of such a detail, as well as the fact that the Bombardier Q400 can use ground strips for take-off / landing, allows it to operate in smaller airports.

Interior layout

Consider a typical layout of the cabin for this aircraft. Since at Russian airports it is still rare, for example, take an airplane airline Air Canada. Locations near the portholes canadians are marked in the same way as in other companies.

Since on the starboard side there are standard doors, the first row has only two seats on the left side. These places will be an excellent choice - there is a big legroom in front, no one will turn back on you, and at the same time the nearest partition is sufficiently removed - the feeling that you are looking at the wall will not arise. The same amenities will be for passengers occupying seats D and F of the second row.

Not very convenient can be passengers of the 19th row (last). Behind the backs of the second exit, so, most likely, they can not be thrown away. Some discomfort can be for passengers sitting by the portholes from the 10th to the 14th row. The location of the wings prevents the fans from looking out the window during the flight. In addition, in this model the motors are located on the wings, and despite the sound absorption systems used in these aircraft, there may be a little noisy.

Sometimes in the models of other airlines there is another layout, but in any case it should be borne in mind that this aircraft has turboprop engines. Therefore, people sitting at the porthole in the middle rows, will be slightly noisy, besides it is not enough that it is visible. As in other liners, the seats at the very beginning of the cabin are the most comfortable, and at the end of the plane there will be unsuccessful seats.

Technical data

Well, for a complete understanding - a little about the technical parameters. Bombardier Dash Q400, as it is called aircraft mechanics, has the following flight capabilities:

  • Cruising speed - 667 km / h;
  • The maximum is 910 km / hour;
  • Ceiling - 8000 m;
  • Range of flight is 2,500 km;
  • Runway length (for both take-off and landing) - 1400 m;
  • Fuel reserve - 6 500 l;
  • Take-off weight (not more than) - 29 250 kg, landing (no more) - 28 000 kg.

Description of the model:

  • Length - 32.8 m;
  • Height - 8.3 m;
  • The diameter of the fuselage is 2.69 m;
  • The wing area is 63 sq.m;
  • The wingspan is 56 m;
  • Width of salon - 2.03 m;
  • Length of the cabin is 18.9 m.

Conclusion

We looked at the Bombardier Q400, which, although relatively new, looks obsolete, because it uses screws instead of reactive thrust. Nevertheless, it is quite capable of competing with the new development of Russia, namely with the "Superjet 100", created in the Commercial Aircraft Sukhoi Civil Aircraft.
