BMX - a sport for those who love adrenaline

Children always look at what adults are doing, and imitate their studies. In the sixties of the last century in America was incredibly popular sport such as motocross.

History of occurrence

Young imitators wanted to imitate adult racers on motorcycles. In those days, having a cross-country motorcycle was a luxury, and nobody could dream of mini-bikes that can now be ordered on the Internet without leaving home. Therefore, those who could not afford expensive entertainment, imitated it at more accessible levels (technical and budgetary). Children, and not only on their bikes, drove through yards, cross-country terrain, showing various tricks, similar to stunts of idols from big races. So the amateur movement was born, which grew into a separate sport.

BMX: features

BMX is an extreme sport. Now it is a popular movement among young people, named after the first letters of words translated from English: Bicycle - bicycle, Moto - moto, motocross, extreme - extreme. In other words, it is the same motocross, only on a bicycle.

Earlier these cycling races were preparatory for young athletes who wanted to eventually participate in adult motocross.

But in our time, "pampering on a bicycle" has not only turned into a separate sport, but since 2008 has entered the program of the Olympic Games because of its entertainment. BMH is a sport for young people. He has only one significant drawback - a high risk of injury. But modern shields, knee pads, elbow pads and helmets protect the athletes as much as possible, minimizing the occurrence of accidents.

With the level of technological progress, a bicycle for BMX (a kind of sport for those lacking adrenaline) underwent various upgrades. There was a division into different types (disciplines). Let us consider them in some detail.

Kinds

  1. BMX racing (high-speed cycling). From the hill, eight athletes start on a circular, hilly distance, simultaneously, overcoming obstacles, compete in whoever first crosses the finish line. For its activity, accessibility, environmental friendliness and entertainment, it was this species that for the first time in 2008 entered the program of the Olympic Games in Beijing. 32 riders from 20 countries took part in it. The first Olympic champion was the sportsman from Latvia Maris Strombergs. In two races, 16 women from 13 countries played their medals. Gold won with the best time in the extreme race Anna-Carolina Chausson (France). In Russia they are already beginning to implement a project on the topic "VMH". The sport for advanced youth is rapidly gaining popularity.
  2. Flatland (in translation - a flat surface, or earth). In a folk way - it's a cycling bike, or dancing on a bicycle. Since speed is not important here, but only the artistry of performing various tricks (elements), this species is considered the safest.
  3. BMX Vert (sheer). This is the most dangerous kind of ride and trick on the U-shaped ramp. Athletes in front of the audience, flying as high as possible from the ramp, try to perform spectacular and complex stunts, while landing again on the ramp (small barrier).
  4. BMX Dirt (from English dirt, soil). Driving on dirt tracks in different weather conditions is complicated by overcoming the hills and performing stunts at speed.
  5. BMX Street (translated from English - street). This is a popular domestic sport for young people. In urban conditions, various obstacles are overcome artistically, which are not intended for a natural ride on an ordinary bicycle (stairs, railings, fences, construction sites, ledges, etc.).

Equipment

BMH is not a sport for the lazy and poor. For occupations at a professional level, one must train very hard and possess certain qualities. Also you need to have an expensive bike with different features:

  • Light, just over 10 kg;
  • The steering wheel rotates 360 degrees;
  • There is no suspension;
  • Small wheels (20 inches);
  • Only one transmission.

Plus specific details (pegs - extended axles on the front and rear wheels, with overlays, so as not to wear off when sliding on them over the surfaces). But for those who like to spend time in the city and at the same time maintain their health, there is a way out. To do this, do not need a lot of spending. Buy a set for a safe ride, an inexpensive bike and - go ahead, conquer obstacles with adrenaline.
