What is he - the sting of a hornet?

If ordinary bees are engaged in collecting nectar, then hornets are inveterate insect hunters. If ordinary bees sting it so that it can be used against ordinary vertebrates and humans, then the hornet is imprisoned for hunting other insects.

The bite of a hornet and an ordinary bee differ markedly from each other. The bee, when bitten, leaves its sting, and itself dies. All the poison in the vial enters the victim's wound. With hornets, things are different. Their sting is intended strictly to destroy their prey if it begins to resist strongly. That's why hornets simply can not afford such a negligent treatment with their own poison, because they need them on the hunt!

Bite hornet. How to avoid?

Despite the widespread opinion, hornets are one of the most peaceful insects! They, like snakes, will never attack a person without any reason. In most cases, they prefer to evade the impending conflict. The hornet's sting is quite easy to prevent. It's enough to follow some rules.

  1. If you go to the forest and other unfamiliar places, then be extremely careful and careful.
  2. Remember that their nests always have hornets-guards. If danger is imminent, they issue a special sound, which serves as a warning to the rest of their numerous family members. Forewarned hornets do not hurry to hide from you, on the contrary, they immediately fly together and begin to attack you in unison. The more numerous the family, the more aggressive it will behave! So do not mess with the nonsense nest! Do not disturb his wand, do not take photos next to him. Try to leave this place as soon as possible. Bear in mind that the hornets pursue the enemy at shorter distances than the bees.
  3. In no case should you block the flight path of the hornet. He may not understand you like that.
  4. Do not try to drive him away, waving his arms. Do not make sharp movements.
  5. Do not kill the hornet next to its nest. Before his death, he will issue special distress signals, which will lead his whole family into an aggressive state towards you.
  6. Remember that to provoke an attack of hornets can those or other materials that freely come into contact with a certain pheromone of an insect due to its chemical properties. In this case, the risk of getting a bite of a hornet is increased many times.

Consequences from their bites

When the hornet stings, the person feels a rather painful sensation. The fact is that in the wound for once injected up to 2 mg of poison! The sting usually does not remain in the wound, so the insect is able to strike several times! Any consequences of this largely depend on their number and place on the human body, as well as on the individual reaction of his body to the bite of the hornet.

First aid with bite

  1. If the stinger with its poisonous sac still remains in the wound, it must be removed.
  2. It is necessary to eliminate the pain by preventing the development of an allergic reaction. For this purpose, for example, drugs "Suprastin" or "Tavegil". Just do not take both antihistamines at the same time.
  3. It is necessary to treat the bite site with cotton wool (a tampon) soaked in hydrogen peroxide (3%). This will slow down the absorption of the poison, as well as disinfect the wound.
  4. Then you need to rinse the wound with a jet of cold water.
